Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel or, ULSD, has arrived at almost every Diesel pump in the Country. Good for the environment, but BAD for the injection pumps found in the Oldsmobile Diesel engines. Less sulfer equals less lubrication. This will play hell on injection pumps through means of premature wear which will eventually result in injection pump failure! How nice of them to warn us...

Do not let this happen to you! You may have no other choice but to run ULSD fuel, but when you do, add a lubricant to the fuel.

The following are additives in which I have found effective:

-Marvel Mystery Oil; add 8 ounces, per 10 gallons of Diesel Fuel.
-Dextron III Transmission Fluid; 1 quart per tank full
-Two Cycle Oil (TCW-3); Ive used it, its made to lubricate and burn!

Of course I must tell you to try them at your own risk, but the point is that lubrication MUST be added to the Diesel fuel, as it is lacking with the low sulfer count.

If you have any doubts, contact any Diesel Injection Shop familiar with the Stanadyne/Roosa-Master DB2 pumps, and ask their insight on the matter. The will most likely recommend the Stanadyne Additive.

This rule applies to all engines running the DB2 Pumps - Oldsmobile 4.3 V8 and V6, 5.7 V8. Chevy 6.2 and 6.5's. Ford - International Harvester (Navistar) 6.9L and 7.3L Indirect Injection Naturally Aspirated and Turbo engines, and select Perkins, and John Deere Diesels.
