After Dark

After Dark was formed in March 1997 and hails from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada.  The band formed as a result of "Hockey Night in Rustico".  All four members of the group played shinny hockey at the "Crick", as Rustico is known locally, and soon found they all had music in common.  It all started as loud obnoxious practices at Rob's place.  Steven and Al both had acoustic guitars, Rob played keyboard and Kirk on electric guitar.  After several practices and too much beer the group was kicked out of Rob's by his beautiful wife, Michelle.  After Dark would like to acknowledge Michelle for her patience in their early days.  Soon after Rob would pick up the drums, Kirk switched to bass and Steve took over the electric guitar duties.  Initially the band was dubbed The Wingnuts, due to the fact a suitable name hadn't been chosen.  The Wingnuts debuted at the Buffalo Rd Bash in May 97, they did quite well despite the pressures of family and friends looking on.  The official debut was July 5 at the Cymbria Lions Club in South Rustico and the boys haven't looked back since.  After Dark's repitoir encompasses a wide range of Country Rock and Classic Rock and Top40 such that there is something for everone.  Influences on the group range from MatchBox 20 to  The Eagles, from Blue Rodeo to the Beatles.  The bands style is marked by bright upbeat tunes, melodic guitar arrangements, and tight 3 part vocal harmonies.  As of this writing the group has original material written but haven't made any definite plans to record.  Currently the band is having a blast and that is all that matters.
