WHAT'S HAPPENING!

New Family!

It's been a busy fall, with several new people added to our wonderful family. Congratulations to the Jennifer and Jonathan Harbour and Christy and Jacob McComas. Jenny (daughter of Barb and Dave Yoder) gave birth to Jeremiah October 15. You can see pictures of the little guy at the Harbour web site. On October 30, Christy (daughter and stepdaughter of Paula and Tom Freeman) gave birth to Allison Rose.

Also in October, Andrea Brooks joined the family when she married Steve Yoder (son of Barb and Dave Yoder.) And Christy and Jacob McComas planned a December wedding.

So take a moment and send your good wishes to Jennifer and Jonathan, Christy and Jacob, and Steve and Andrea.

..........

It'sDone!

If you haven't heard by now the Schnitzler Family Tree has come back from the printers! This book was 15 years in the making, and a whole lot of you were obviously very patiently waiting for me to get it finished. Two weeks after the book was completed, the available supply went from 120 books to 40 - so if you haven't gotten yours, get your order in quickly.

The books are $15 if you pick them up at Paula Schleis's Akron home or Rose Ann Schleis's Barberton home, and $18 per book if mailed. They are 130 pages long, include 1,000 Schnitzler family members and pictures of more than 100 of them. There's a section of yearbook photos of Schnitzler relatives who graduated from Barberton High School in a half-century period, and a whole lot more that chronicles the Schnitzlers of Karavukova (Austro-Hungary) over a 200-year period.

To make arrangements to get a book, drop Paula or Rose Ann an email. Trust me, it's been a long time since you bought a book that was this much fun!

Also, there are limited numbers of Seigfried Family Tree books left for $15. The 100-page book was published in 1992 and features about 400 Seigfried individuals who trace their roots to Karavukova.

Our next project, just getting underway with a hopeful publication date of Christmas, 1998, is the Willig Family Tree, chronicalling the German families who originated in Sotin (present-day Croatia). Stay tuned.

THANKS UWE!

Thanks to Uwe Morres of Heidelberg, Germany, the Seigfried and Schnitzler relatives can add 51 new grandparents to their family trees!

We met Uwe on a genealogy mailing list, and it turned out his ancestors came from Guttenbrunn, which was home to Barbara Zengraf - grandpa Balthasar Seigfried's mother.

The Zengraf family is a line we had given up on because we could not get microfilms of the Guttenbrunn church records for the period that we needed to continue our research.

But Uwe, bless his heart, located the records. He not only followed the Zengraf line back seven more generations, but followed each of the grandmother's lines back as far as he could. So far back, in fact, that some of the earliest relatives could have been born in the 1500s!

And the very nice bonus from all of this - Uwe turns out to be a cousin! We begin sharing the same grandparents in 1755.

We can never thank you enough Uwe!

UPDATE: Wow, no sooner did I get this thank you up and Uwe forwarded us research on the Lulay side of the family. That's another 25 grandparents! Katharina Lulay was Matthias Zengraf's wife, and they were parents to Barbara.

Those of you who want to try your hand at reading German can visit Uwe's extensive web site on Guttenbrunn.

And anyone interested in a pedigree chart showing the Lulay and/or Zengraf trees, drop me an email or give me a call and I'll pop it in the mail for you.
