Baby Girl 5: The Accident
© 2000

When Brian finished the song, I got up from my chair and went over to him. The four guys quietly left us alone.

"Oh, Brian." I said.

"Baby Girl, you don't have to say anything. Just come with me." He took my hand and led me back to his room. "We don't leave until tomorrow. We weren't sure how long it would take us to film the video. Please stay with me tonight."

"Brian," I started, "I don't think I should. I mean, you are obviously torn up about Leighanne, and rightfully so, but I don't think I could give you the comfort you need and deserve."

"Do you think last night was a mistake? Do you think it was just lust?"

"I do," I said.

"It wasn't, Baby Girl. Give me a chance to prove that to you." Brian leaned over to kiss me, but I moved out of the way.

"Brian, we shouldn't. I'm going to go jump in the shower, get some of this chlorine out of my hair. We'll talk about this later, okay?" I walked into the bathroom and closed the door. I opted not to lock it, thinking that maybe Brian would come in and talk to me, keep me company. I turned on the shower and undressed. When the water was warm, I climbed in and stood there, letting the water run over my body. I was facing the showerhead with my eyes closed, so I didn't see Brian climb in with me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and turned me around. He leaned down and kissed me and this time I didn't move out of the way. Our lips met and I forgot all about the incident that morning.

He placed a hand on the back of my head and began kissing me harder. Our mouths opened and our tongues met. Brian took his other hand and reached behind me and turned off the water. Then without breaking the kiss, he scooped me up in his arms and carried me out of the bathroom and laid me down on the bed. He moved his lips from mine and began kissing down my neck. He stopped at my breasts and suckled on each in turn. He then lifted his head to look at me. I could feel his erection against my inner thigh. He wanted my permission. I nodded ever so slightly and he slid gently inside of me.

He started slowly, kissing my neck. I started moving with his rhythm and then started squeezing him. His lips found mine and he started to thrust harder. I knew what I was doing to him, and he knew it too. In a matter of minutes he would drift over the precipice without me. He tried as hard as he could to get me there, but nothing seemed to work. I felt him start to thrust faster. Knowing it wouldn't be long now, I stopped kissing him. I saw the sweat break out on his brow. We both were still wet from the shower, but now the water was mingled with sweat. I watched as every muscle in his body tensed and he moaned softly, "Baby Girl." He very gently lowered his head to my chest and lay there for a moment.

"Why do you do that?" he asked, slightly out of breath.

"Do what?" I said, stroking his hair.

"Make me climax and not take anything for yourself?"

"I like making you happy, Bri."

He carefully withdrew himself from me and rolled onto his side. "But I wanna make you happy."

"You already have," I told him.

"How?"

"By being here with me."

"It's not the same." He ran the back of his hand over my belly. "I want to make you quiver in joy, shiver with pleasure. Tell me how."

"I don't know how, Baby," I told him.

"Let me try something." He slid his hand down my stomach and pushed one of his fingers inside me. He carefully started a rhythm of thrusts that was very even. It took a bit, but soon, I was tensed in an orgasm. Once I had peaked, Brian kept going. He wasn't letting up, making up for all the times he had traveled that road alone.

Brian was working on number five when the door to the room flew open. I reached for the covers on the bed and tried unsuccessfully to fling them around my body. AJ was the one on the other side of the door. "Brian, we have a problem," he blurted out before realizing that both Brian and I were lying there naked. "Whoa, sorry man," he said as he turned his eyes away from us.

"What's so important that you had to barge in here without knocking?" Brian asked, almost yelling.

"It's Leighanne."

"What about her?" Brian asked, not bothering to get up. He managed to get the bedding free and help me underneath.

"She, uh, she was in a car accident."

"What?" Brian leaped out of bed and began putting his clothes on. "We've got to go see her. What hospital is she at? When did it happen?"

AJ walked over and placed a hand on Brian's shoulder. "Rock, we can't go see her."

"What do you mean we can't?" Brian pulled a tank top over his head.

"Brian, I'm sorry. She didn't make it."

"What?"

"She's gone, Brian."

Brian sank to his knees and began sobbing. I climbed out of the bed and got down on the floor with Brian. I put my arms around him and let him cry on my shoulder. He kept muttering the word "Why" over and over again.

Just then, Kevin, Nick, Howie and a police officer entered the room. It didn't even register in my mind that I was still naked. The only thing that mattered to me was Brian at that moment. Kevin grabbed the comforter off the bed and wrapped it around my shoulders. Brian continued to sob. I looked up at the men in the room and asked, "How did it happen?"

"She was driving pretty erratically, we're told," Kevin said. "She apparently missed a turn and ran head on into a tree. The paramedics say she died instantly. She was in no pain." Kevin walked over and placed his hand on Brian's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Cuz. I know you loved her."

Howie turned to the officer and thanked him for coming to tell them and he left. Howie, Nick and AJ gathered around Brian, Kevin and I. I sat there holding Brian until he ran out of tears. I stayed with him that night. We spent some time praying and looking for answers. He cried on my shoulder almost the entire night. The next morning we got on the plane and headed back to the mainland. I flew with the guys to Orlando and then accompanied them to Atlanta to tell Leighanne's parents. We helped make the funeral arrangements. Brian was torn inside. He and Leighanne had been arguing before she left, so he blamed himself for her accident. Her parents sat down with him and had a long talk about it. A few days later, we all sat there at the funeral, wondering about where our lives would lead.
