Pink Bunnies, Big Hair and Tainted Love I was working in my corner office on rainy Monday. Well, I wasn't really working. I was running on my treadmill trying to clear my mind. I had my headphones on listening to the Bangles "Manic Monday" when the phone rang. I have this neat feature in my office where a light flashes on my desk when my phone rings; it's mainly for when I'm on my treadmill. I climbed off my machine, accidentally pulling the headphones from their jack causing "Manic Monday" to go blaring through my office. I quickly turned the volume down and reached for the phone. "Hello?" I asked. "Miss Jackie, your three o'clock is here," came the voice of my assistant, Maria. "Lead them to the conference room," I told her, "I'll meet them there." I hung up the phone and checked myself in the mirror. My blonde hair was up in a high ponytail on the side of my head and my bangs were about an inch and a half curled above my head sprayed with so much hairspray that they didn't even move while I was running on my treadmill. I quickly slipped a white shirt over my gray sports bra. As I was buttoning it, there was a knock on my door and slowly it opened. In walked the love of my life. He was tall, dark and handsome to say the least. To top it off he had this deep bedroom voice that drove me nutty. When the door opened, I jumped from the pure shock of it all and then I realized who it was. "Kevin, don't do that to me." Kevin Richardson, clad in deep blue jeans and a black turtleneck shirt, walked in and swept me into his arms. After spinning me around and kissing me deeply, he pulled back and looked at me. "Girl, didn't you ever outgrow the eighties?" he asked just as my CD player started playing "Tainted Love." He laughed as the song played and whispered in my ear, "I love this song." The thunderstorm outside let out a lion-like roar and Kevin pulled me close to his chest. I pulled away from him quickly and stepped into a pair of LA Gear sneakers. Kevin once again looked me over from head to toe. Aside from the white button-down shirt, I was in gray stretch pants with yellow and blue puffy socks. He just smiled. Then he noticed the slippers in the corner. "Pink fuzzy tailed bunny slippers?" he asked me. "Yeah," I replied. It's part of my new line of sleep clothes. I have pink bunnies, sheepies, and bears. The slippers match the pajamas." "Mm hum," he hummed. "And you expect us to wear them?" I grinned. "Only for the ad campaign, mainly print ad, but I'm thinking of a commercial too." "And what do we get out of it?" he asked while planting his lips to mine. I pulled away briefly and looked up at the ceiling. "Hm. Maybe tour sponsorship. Free night clothes." He winked at me. "Come on baby, you know we don't wear anything to bed anyway." I giggled. "Now, let's not keep the guys waiting. They've been dying to meet my big haired, stuck in the eighties girlfriend." I grinned again and took his arm. I was just about to head out when I realized my CD player was still on. I stopped it just as it was going into "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me." Kevin and I walked the short distance to the conference room only to hear "The Chicken Dance" coming from the very same room. I rolled my eyes, realizing that one of my interns had gotten to rest of the group before me. When I opened the door, I found Intern Stan dressed in a pink bunny suit leading the remaining Backstreet Boys in the Chicken Dance. I thought I was going to die of laughter and so did Maria, my assistant. "What brought this on?" I asked her, while laughing. She shook her head for a moment, trying to stop laughing, and then said, "I have no idea. One minute, Stanley was parading around the office in his pink bunny suit and the next thing I know he's got the Backstreet Boys doing the Chicken Dance and the design staff is recording it for posterity." I glanced in the conference room again and there was my design team, video recorders and cameras in hand getting the whole thing on film, and Brian, Nick, Howie and AJ didn't even notice, or they didn't really care. Kevin however was in utter shock and disbelief, initially, but he overcame it rather quickly and joined in the hysteria. He wouldn't stoop to the level of his friends and join in though. Instead he wrapped his arm around my waist and waited until the song stopped to walk into the room, applauding. "Hey guys, I think we should add that to our tour, what do ya think?" The rest of the guys slumped into chairs and stared at him. "You saw that?" Nick asked. "Yeah, who do you think was laughing at you idiots?" Nick blushed deep crimson. "What possessed you to do that?" Kevin inquired. "Just a craving I guess," Brian told his cousin. "Stan here came in with it and asked if we knew it and of course we did so we decided to perform it for the design team." I shook my head. "And they got it all on film, which I hope they plan on keeping here in the office and nowhere else." The team nodded at me knowing how secretive I was about the Backstreet Boys, being I was the girlfriend of the eldest. Kevin took a seat near me while the rest of the guys lounged in their chairs. "Alright, let's get down to business." I asked the team to show the Boys the designs for the pajamas and the ideas for the ad campaign. I heaved a sigh of relief when they all thought it was a good idea and accepted my offer of sponsoring their next tour.
