Roll The Can Ice Cream

- 1 Empty can with plastic lid (1 pound can)
- 1 Empty can with plastic lid (3 pound can)
- 1 1/2 cups rock salt
- 20 cups (approx. 7 1/2 pounds) of crushed ice
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup of fruit
In small can mix cream, milk, sugar, vanilla and fruit. Cover can and set
it in the larger can. In the space between the small and large can,
fill with alternating layers of half the ice and half the rock salt. Cover
the larger can. On a hard surface roll the can back and
forth for ten minutes. Open larger can and empty out ice and water.
Take out small can, dry lid, and open. With a spatula scrape ice cream
from sides so it goes into the center. Stir and cover. Return small can
to larger can. Repack with ice and salt. Cover and roll for five more
minutes. Makes approx. 2 1/2 cups of ice cream!
