If, like some of my friends here in the UK, you have not seen beyond season 2, don't read to the bottom of the page. This page contains spoilers (sort of) for seasons 3, 4 and 5.

First Season:-

The Gathering:
Why? Adrian Paul and Christopher Lambert in the same episode! You need another reason? There’s also some great lines and some really funny use of body language.

Band of Brothers:
Why? I loved Darius. It was also one of the first episodes I ever saw and I liked the fact that Duncan was very nearly beaten and found the strength to defeat Grayson when he was at the end of his endurance.

The Hunters:
Why? The introduction of Horton, possibly my favourite bad guy (it’s all in the eyes). I enjoyed the suspense. It was also memorable for an altogether different reason, it was the farewell episode for Darius. At the time I was quite angry that they had killed him off, I didn’t realise it was because Werner Stocker was terminally ill.

Second Season:-

The Watchers:
Why? More Horton. We also see Duncan trying to deal with his grief over losing Darius and we get introduced to Joe, another one of my favourite characters.

Unholy Alliance I and II:
Why? You’ve guessed it, more Horton. I also like the interaction between Duncan and Charlie. One of my favourite quotes comes from part I (see the quotes page).

Counterfeit I and II:
Why? Apart from the usual, that is. Well, there’re some great one liners and I enjoyed seeing Richie develop his character a bit more. It was nice to see Alexandra Vandernoot again. Joe’s also in the episode, another reason to include it as far as I’m concerned. Altogether an extremely watchable couple of episodes.

Third Season:-

Rite of Passage:
Why? I’m not really sure. I think I like Michelle in a way, even if she is a bit of a brat.

Song of the Executioner:
Why? The introduction of another good bad guy (Kalas). The episode held my attention and it really got to me when Anne saw Duncan ‘die’. I thought the way she and Richie interacted was really touching.

Methos:
Why? Methos, of course (oh, and Kalas). Richie doing something he wants do to, in the way he wants to do it.

Testimony:
Why? Richie does some more growing up. I liked the reunion between Anne and Duncan, and the scene between them on the barge (part of the Eurominutes I think) where Anne goes after Duncan with his coat. I also love the scene where Richie interrupts Anne and Duncan after being spotted alive after his 'death', it's a classic.

Finale I and II:
Why? Kalas, Methos, Joe, Amanda. I love the seen where Methos tells Christine Salzer about immortals and the resulting conversation between him and Joe. Part II has one of my favourite scenes of all time - the dance on the Eiffel Tower.

Fourth Season:-

Chivalry:
Why? The door scene, the dojo scene, the bath scene, Richie gets some, the paint scene, Methos acting older and wiser, Methos takes a head and some really great quotes (see my quotes page.). I loved this episode from start to finish, no prizes for guessing that it’s probably my favourite ever.

Timeless:
Why? Because the alternative is unthinkable.

Something Wicked & Deliverance:
Why? Evil Duncan. Great scene at the end of SW with Evil Duncan and Richie (and Joe). Methos being all round kind of good guy and friend in Deliverance. Some good quotes.

Methuselah’s gift:
Why? The whole episode really touched me. Methos’ decision to try and help Alexa in the only way he could think of really struck a chord. The scene between him and Amanda first had me on the edge of my seat and then nearly crying. And then at the end of the episode I wanted to yell ‘You can’t do that to him!’. Whew! An emotional Rollercoaster of an episode if ever there was one.

Fifth Season:-

End of Innocence:
Why? The return of Richie, of course. Older, wiser and emotionally bruised.I liked the resolution of things between him and Duncan, even though his initial distrust was all that could be expected - after all, immortals are only human (or are they?). I also like Richie’s new haircut!

Haunted:
Why? It was a bit weird. I like weird, especially if it involves Richie. It raised some valid points in a thought provoking fashion - exactly what *is* transferred in a quickening? Just one nit-pick... I sure as hell wouldn’t have been able to hold Richie’s sword over my head for that long, it’s supposed to be *heavy*, so how could she? (comments about supernatural strength being given by Alec have already been made).

Comes a Horseman and Revelations 6:8:
Why? Methos as a bad guy (even if he was having a bad hair century). The Four Horsemen as a group of bad guys are just wonderful too. I liked the scene between Duncan and Methos by the car, Methos confessing he used to be a killer, and a good one at that. I have often wondered what was in his past - 5000 years is a long time. These two episodes were really enjoyable, even with the trippy double quickening in Revelations.

The Ransom of Richard Redstone:
Why? It made me laugh, pure and simple. Some good quotes and some great Richie scenes, the one with him tied to the bed being a favourite, as was the one with him and Duncan staging Duncan’s ‘death’ to get the deeds to the Chateau.

Duende:
Why? Duncan dancing. It’s a good enough reason for me, anyway. To be quite honest, I liked the interaction between him and Richie, obviously now back to being good friends. It was nice to see Richie being treated more as an equal than a trusty side-kick.

I would include Archangel as a favourite episode for one reason only... Yup, you've got it, the return of Horton (even if he was supposed to be a demon). The rest of Archangel, and the 'Triple A' arc (of Season 6) are non-entities as far as I'm concerned, but for Horton's presence.

Sixth Season:-
(or 'Season Sux')

Indescretions:
Also known as 'The Methos and Joe Show'. This was probably the only episode in the whole of this season that I really enjoyed. The interaction between Methos and Joe is amazing; full of witty one liners and general deadpan comments. Watch it, and laugh!
