Whitby is also famous for being the home of Captain
James Cook (he was apprenticed there) and the place where the Endeavour and Resolution were
built to later sail around the world. It is also the place where an
Irishman re-wrote the vampire legend giving us the most famous vampire of all
time. I bet Bram Stoker wishes he could still get royalties for Dracula in the
afterlife.
Whitby also became the home for Whitby Goth weekend. It started as a weekend
away for a group of Goth friends many years ago and has now grown to the extent
that there are about 2000 Goths descending on Whitby twice a year to meet like
minded people, drink, spend money and hear some decent music. Oh and visit the
Abbey.
Anyway, I have been going to Whitby Goth Weekend since November 2000 and have
finally decided to put some of the photos taken from the weekends on the net.
There are lots more people with a lot more interesting photos of the Goth
Weekend out there, but these are *ours* (mine and Paul's that is).

This is one of my favourite pictures of me, taken in Nov 2001 on West Pier
Travelling to Whitby with Harvey the Border Collie in April 2002 - we stopped
off for a walk in the Yorkshire Dales
The Foyer at The Spa Theatre/Pavillion April 2002
These three are from Nov 2002 and were taken in the Abbey
Paul on East Pier, November 2002. The sea was rather high...
