And the second part...

Disclaimer: I don't own DC, or "Iris." Whoa, I just came out and said it, go me!

Author's Note: flashbacks and something to show that a word is being enunciated are in **, so you'll have to figure that one out on your own.

Author's Note #2, (ALL OTHER AUTHORS PLEASE READ): This totally and completely came from my own imagination, so if there's a part of your story that somehow got into mine, it's purely coincidental, so please don't send me hate mail! Someone did it to me and I was completely unaware I had used some of her story in mine, and she was extremely harsh and rude about it. SO if you feel the need, please make it non threatening!

Risky Business

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
-"Iris"-Goo Goo Dolls

Dawson sat on his roof with his best friend, Pacey. They were everything that was going on in their lives...Mitch and Gail's divorce, Joey, Pacey's family, Jack...just everything.

"Dawson, how important is Joey to you?" Pacey questioned.

"In a word, she's everything. She's beautiful, she's smart, she's funny...why I ever let her slip away that night after the dance is beyond me. Because there is nothing more I would like other than her to come running back into my arms."

"She will, Dawson. I know she will."

Joey's heart broke from Dawson's doorway as she watched her two best friends talk about her. Jack isn't Dawson. He never was, and you're fooling yourself pretending he's anything Dawson ever was.

Was this feeling just spontaneous, or was it real? Joey couldn't help but wonder.

**********

The next day at school, Joey saw Jack waiting for her at her locker. "Hey, you," she greeted him with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi, Jo," he replied, returning the kiss.

The bell rang. "Ugh, I don't want to go to class today. What do you say we just cut?" Jack asked Joey, who was taken aback.

"Jack! You know I have to get the best grades possible so I can get a scholarship!" she reminded him as she saw the real Jack. The selfish Jack. He isn't who you wanted him to be, because the only person you want is Dawson.

Jack sighed. "You know what, Jo? I kind of figured out something. We're not compatible at all, except for our interest in art.''

"I know that. Can we just break up so I can get on with my life? Now I need to get to class." Joey ran off to class, leaving Jack satisfied.

**********

"Hey, Dawson," Joey called out as she entered her best friend's room.

"Hi, Joey," he sighed as he saved his current script and shut his computer off.

"I broke up with Jack this morning," she informed him.

Dawson's ears perked up. "Oh, Jo, I'm so sorry," he told her sympathetically.

"Well, it was bound to happen, because there was one person he would never compare to," Joey shrugged.

"Who?" Dawson questioned.

"Pardon?"

"Who is it that Jack will never compare to?" he repeated, this time making himself a little more clear.

"Do you really want to know?" she asked him.

He nodded his head with a serious look in his eyes.

"Well, that one person is...you, Dawson. Because you're everything I''ve ever wanted in *anyone,* and the only reason I had for breaking up with you is because it seems whoever I choose to love is taken away from the real world, and I didn't want it to happen to you because you have so much to live for, and I didn't want to ruin that." By the end of her speech, she was sobbing.

"Oh, Joey..." Dawson wrapped her arms around her. Sobs shook her body.

"I love you," she whispered.

"I love you, too," he returned.

Her head shot up from his arms. "After everything, you still love me?" she inquired, atonished.

"Over anything, Jo," he smiled.

She closed her eyes and leaned up so her lips touched his.

Dawson Leery and Josephine Potter were finally together again. That's the way it should be.

And that's the way it stayed.

Me, Amanda, write just a 2 parter?! Yeah, I usally like to write longer series, but I'm kinda proud of this one. But I'm still like, "God, a *2* parter? What's happened to me?"
