True Romance by: Jeannie

Dawson sat there stone silent at the ruins just thinking about how his life became so disoriented. It made no sense how things fell apart so quickly. It was like a jigsaw puzzle, the pieces once all fit together, but didn't anymore. Dawson gazed around the place, he once deemed this place a monsters haven for his movie. Dawson looked at a grassy spot over by the fountain. Moving, he sat down and smiled remembering his first date with Joey. They sat on this exact spot.

Dawson had wanted to impress Joey, and wanted the night to be filled with romance. Dawson acted mysterious when Joey inquired where they would be going that night. Dawson gave her a mischievous smile and told her, "it's a surprise, Joey. I promise tonight will be full of mystery, adventure, and romance."

Dawson packed a special picnic basket just for him and Joey. Dawson carried his full duffel bag downstairs and started adding the key essentials for that night. Dawson packed candles, matches, mood music, his portable CD player, and some other surprises. Dawson left early to set everything up, he wanted the night to be perfect. Dawson wanted to show Joey how special she was to him, and how much their relationship meant. Dawson avoided Jen's house while walking to the ruins, he didn't want anything to spoil the evening. After redecorating the ruins, Dawson headed home to change. Dawson nervously walked to Joey's front door, clutching a bouquet of flowers tightly in his hand. Dawson knocked while trying to calm his racing heart down. Dawson heard pitter patter of feet near the door before it opened revealing the breathtaking sight of Joey.

Joey stood her hair pinned up in a clip, she was wearing a brown sweater that matched her eyes perfectly and black jeans. Joey's eyes danced happily as she received the flowers, and then a kiss from Dawson. Joey disappeared inside to give the flowers to Bessie, and tell her not to wait up. Dawson held Joey's hand as he lead her blindfolded to the ruins. Dawson thought it would be more exciting and adventurous for Joey if she didn't know where she was going. Joey was skeptical at first to wear the blindfold, but gave in quickly after receiving Dawson's puppy dog eyes. Joey agreed saying, "I trust you, Dawson."

Joey clumsily walked along being lead by Dawson to a candlelight picnic dinner. Dawson grinned when Joey removed the blindfold, and gawked completely surprised by the fairy tale date Dawson set up. Joey laughed and playfully punched Dawson saying, "I can't believe you did all of this…for me."

Dawson held Joey's hand as they sat on the blanket and said, "I would do anything for you, Joey. Besides I wanted to prove to you there is something to romance."

Joey smiled gazing at the mouthwatering food, drippy candles, and vase of roses. Dawson served Joey then himself dinner on good china. Dawson and Joey ate a little, but ended up just feeding each other tidbits. Joey blushed saying, "I can't imagine how cheesy this looks Dawson, or how revolting a sight of us feeding one another…but I don't care I am having the best time of my life."

After dinner, Dawson put a CD into the portable CD player, and hit play. Dawson listened as the sweet sounding melody played over the sound speakers Dawson set up around the ruins. Dawson took Joey's hand and led her off the blanket, and over to the tile floor near the fountain. Dawson pulled Joey close, and swayed gently to the music with her.

Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden (which I do not own!)

I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly, Madly, Deeply, Do
I will be strong I will be faithful
'cause I'm counting on
A new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning
I want to stand with you on
A mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
And when the stars are shining
Brightly in the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish to send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the
Pleasure in the certainty
That we're surrounded by the
Comfort and protection of
The highest powers
In lonely hours
The tears devour
I want to stand with you on
A mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
Oh can you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'cause it's a standing right here before you
All that you need will surely come
I'll be your dream I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more every breath
Truly, Madly, Deeply, Do
I want to stand with you on a
Mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Joey and Dawson stared deeply into each other's eyes as their feet shuffled back and forth. Joey leaned her head on Dawson's shoulder, and wrapped her arms around his neck. It was the first real time Dawson realized how soft and silky her hair felt. Dawson leaned his head against Joey's resting on his shoulder. Dawson smiled to himself, her hair smelled like strawberries. Dawson inhaled the sweet scent thinking it was heavenly, just like Joey. Dawson knew at that moment, standing there holding Joey close, that this was true love, and better than he ever imagined it could be.

Dawson broke away free from his daydreams and gathered himself together. After taking one more look around the ruins, he left for home. Dawson thought at a time like this should sit in his room in deep despair, and drown his sorrows in Spielberg films. Dawson hoped watching them would help him make sense out of his own chaotic existence, since he believed every film held the key to life. Dawson trudged home thinking to himself, "Life is about to get a whole lot worse for me."
