Dawson wandered around the airport searching for the correct gate. He found it a few short minutes before the plane was supposed to arrive. He sat down in one of the chairs. He stared out the window and wondered if he was doing the right thing. He could already feel his feelings starting to brew for Andie. So, why wouldn’t it be right? He has feelings for her, she for him. Why couldn’t they explore that? He knew that Pacey and Joey didn’t mind. All those years he had been in love with Joey Potter, but she never was in love with him. He hadn’t seen what was in front of him all along, just as Pacey hadn’t really ever seen how much Joey truly loved him until now. Once again, he heard the annoying beeping sound coming from his pocket. He hoped it wasn’t Todd.

"Leery."

"Hey, man," Pacey said on the other end.

"Oh hey, Pace."

"Have you picked up Andie yet?"

"I’m waiting on her as we speak."

"Great, take care of her man."

"I will."

"Okay, anyway...... Joey and I wanted to know if, later in the week when you and Andie kind of got settled, you wanted to come and have dinner with us? Maybe we could even make a "movie night" out of it."

"Sure. Are you up to something?"

"Am I ever not?"

"Not really."

"Well no, I am not up to anything. We just have some things to tell you guys."

"Oh, all right." Dawson sighed playfully, having a feeling he already knew what this was about.

"Okay, well I am going to call Jack, Doug and Amy and see if they want to join us."

"Call me later in the week with all the details."

"Sure thing, man."

Dawson clicked his cell phone closed just as the plane was arriving. He watched all the people swarming out of the plane. He saw her. She looked beautiful. She was wearing a light purple strapless dress that hung to her knees, her hair falling freely all the way down to the middle of her back. It was longer than it had been in high school. It was beautiful.

"Andie!" he called out so she would see him sooner. She smiled and began walking towards him. She enveloped him into a hug and pulled back. They were still holding each other. He just stared at her for a long while, then leaned in and kissed her softly.

"Hey Dawson." She said breathlessly, blushing at the same time.

"Hey," he replied, just grinning. "Shall we get your stuff and head out?"

"Yes! I am glad to have my feet on the ground. I hate traveling on airplanes for so long." She smiled, relieved that there was no tension. They just smiled at each other and Dawson held on to her hand as they made their way to the baggage claim.

Joey was sitting in the window seat in her apartment. It had become one of her favorite spots. She was gazing down at her left hand, staring thoughtfully at the ring on her finger.

"You are gonna go blind if you don’t stop staring at that thing," Pacey said playfully as he sat down besides her, putting his arm around the back of her.

"It’s just so beautiful, Pace. It represents us. I can’t wait to show it off. Andie is just going go nuts when she sees it!" Joey was overly excited.

"I know, honey. You wanna know what I actually think the three diamonds stand for?"

"Mmm Hmm." She nuzzled his neck with her face.

"They stand for the three wonderful times that you have been in my life. The two small ones: one for high school, one for college, and the big one.... It stands for now and it means forever."

"Oh, Pace. I am so glad that things are the way they are. I don’t think I would have ever got through the rest of my life without you."

"Now you don’t have to." He kissed her on the forehead lightly.

"So..." She poked him in the ribs. "When do we get to start planning? Have you thought about where to have it at?"

"You can plan whatever, wherever and whenever you want, Jo."

"All right, I say we do it in Capeside. It will be so beautiful there in the spring, then that will still give Andie and me a few months to plan."

All of a sudden Joey got this strange look on her face, jumped up, and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door. Pacey, confused, walked over to the closed door and could hear her coughing and gagging into the toilet. "Jo, are you all right?"

She opened the door slowly and still had a pale look on her face. "I’m fine just a wave of nausea or something."

"Are you sure? That was really weird."

"Yes, I’m sure! Just don’t worry about it!" Surprised at her own outburst, Joey stepped back and covered her mouth. "I’m so sorry, Pace. I don’t know what came over me just then."

"It’s okay." He moved closer and wrapped his arms around her. "Maybe you should go to the doctor."

"Yeah, maybe." As they moved back over to the window seat, he sat down first and she sat down in front of him and leaned back into his chest. She couldn’t help but wonder.............

Dawson still held on to Andie’s hand and they were still both all smiles as they approached his house. When they reached the gate, Andie let out a small gasp, "Oh Dawson, it’s beautiful."

"Thanks, it’s not a whole lot, but I love it." It was not a huge house; it resembled his parents’ house in a lot of ways, but had a few more rooms. It was two-stories, white with gray trim, with an enclosed front porch. He led her into the house. He set her bags down by the door and walked her around to each room. They came to the last door and he said, "This is your room. I hope that you like it, I sort of had it done especially for you." She smiled as he opened the door. It was painted in a pale pink with white trim. It had two large windows that touched the ceiling with a valance on each that fell to the floor. It had a king size bed in the middle of the room with a beautiful canopy on it. It had a balcony with double doors that overlooked the yard and pool. There were fresh flowers placed upon the dresser, vanity and night stand. "It’s beautiful." She leaned over sort of nervously and kissed him quickly on the lips.

"I’m glad you like it. How about we go down stairs and get some lunch?" He picked up her hand and kissed it, not letting go as he led her out of the room.

They finished eating lunch and were in the living room sitting on the couch, talking and enjoying a cup of coffee. "Andie, are you all right? It just seems as though you might be having second thoughts about this?" Dawson looked at her, surprised that she smiled lovingly at him.

"No, I am not having second thoughts. It’s just that I am nervous. I haven’t had these feelings for anyone in a long time. I just want it to be right."

"It will be right. It will be perfect. I am nervous too, but I won’t let it stand in the way of how I feel. I know that this is going somewhere, even though we may not be sure where just yet."

"I’m so glad you feel that way. I’m sorry if I seemed to have been acting a little sheepish."

"It’s okay. I want to know how you feel. I want you to express your emotions. I don’t want anything hidden between us. I want this to start out right." He moved closer to her and wrapped her in his arms. She laid her head down on his shoulder, closed her eyes and took in his smell.

"I’m really glad this is happening, Dawson," she said barely above a whisper.

"Me too." He leaned in and began kissing her slowly. He caressed her face and hands. Butterflies. Pacey had always talked about the butterflies he had with Joey and how they never seemed to go away. Dawson was happy to be feeling that way. Suddenly, the phone began ringing loudly.

"Hello." Dawson seemed a tad bit aggravated that they got interrupted.

"Oh, hey, Jo. Sure just a sec." Relieved it was just Joey, he turned to Andie. "She wants to talk to you, sounds important." He handed her the phone.

"Hey, Jo."

"ANDIE!! You have to fly over here right away! It is an emergency!" Joey shouted into the phone.

"What’s wrong?"

"Look, no time to explain, Pacey might hear me. It’s a girl best friend thing. I need you to come. You guys were coming in a few days anyway. Please! If Pacey asks I will just tell him we needed some "girl time" before the big dinner on Friday. Please! You have to."

"All right, Jo, I’ll be there as soon as I can." With a small amount of sadness, she turned to Dawson. "I have to go down there a few days early. Joey needs me. She didn’t say why." She could see that was a little hurt but understood. "I’m so sorry, Dawson, but I will see you in a few days and when we get back here we will have lots of time together, since the practice isn’t going to be ready to open for a few more months."

"I understand, Andie. It’s okay, just as long as you come over here and kiss me for a few more minutes before rushing out my door."

"Gladly..." She murmured as she slid onto his lap.

The next day.... Joey was pacing the floor waiting on Andie. Andie had called her from the airport about 5 that morning and said the plane left at 6, putting her in New York about 3. Pacey was downtown finalizing some of the plans on the new restaurant, so that would give Joey time to explain her strange phone call to Andie that had taken place the day before. Finally the buzzer called. "It’s me, let me up." Andie was seemed more energized today than her usual self. Joey buzzed her in and met her halfway down the stairs. She practically leaped into a hug with her. "I’m so glad to see you," she said almost in tears. "Joey, what’s going on?" Andie questioned, aware that her friend had been acting strange the last few days. Joey took Andie by the arm and led her back up into the apartment. She shoved her left hand in Andie’s face. "Wow! That is beautiful, Jo." Andie couldn’t help but stare in awe at the ring.

"That is what dinner is all about on Friday," Joey replied.

"Is that the big emergency?" Andie said, confused. "No, no. That is the most wonderful thing that could have happened to me." Joey gazed at a picture of Pacey and herself on the mantle while speaking.

"Okay, so what is it," Andie was getting impatient.

"I’M PREGNANT !!!!"

"Oh, Joey, that is wonderful!!"

"You think?"

"Of course I do, you guys are so in love and about to get married, why wouldn’t it be?"

"Well, I am just scared to tell Pacey. I thought maybe he would want to get married first. I don’t even know for certain. I have just been really sick and I took one of those home pregnancy tests and it was positive. I wanted you to go to the doctor with me to make sure. Be my support until I tell Pacey, you know?"

"I will, Jo you know that. It doesn’t matter which comes first for you guys, marriage or the baby, because it is all going to come sooner or later. I am positive that Pacey will be thrilled. You know he’s always dreamed of a little Witter running around!"

"I hope so, I couldn’t handle if he wasn’t happy."

"He’s always going to be happy with you. He loves you so very much. I should have known that’s why you have been acting so strange... all those hormones and that motherly glow," Andie smiled coyly at her friend.

"Hormones is right. I must be putting Pacey through hell. The first time I got sick, I pretty much bit his head off. Speaking of glowing, what’s up with you?"

"Butterflies." That was all she had to say for the two to perfectly understand each other.

"Well, Joey-Potter-soon-to-be-Witter, what do you say we grab some lunch and get you to the doctor."

"I love you, McPhee."

"I know." They both smiled happily as they walked down the stairs and onto the streets of New York.

Andie sat in the waiting room at the doctor’s office. Joey wanted her to wait until they were through with the exam until she came back. She decided to call Dawson while she was waiting. The bubbly receptionist picked up the phone quickly. "Dawson Leery, please," Andie said politely.

"Leery here."

"Hi, honey."

"Andie, I was hoping you would call soon. So, what was the big emergency?"

"You will find out soon enough. Just girlfriend stuff right now, though. Everything is fine. How is work coming along?"

"Oh, fine. I am finishing up on the season finale. Having trouble, though. I just can’t seem to get a certain strikingly beautiful women out of my head, since she left my side 24 hours ago."

"Well, I will see you tomorrow, so you don’t have that much longer to wait." Just then Joey poked her head out the door and motioned for Andie to come back. "Dawson, I gotta go. I will see you tomorrow."

"Okay, I miss you."

"I miss you, too." She clicked the cell phone shut and walked over to Joey, who had an unmistakable grin on her face. They went and sat in the doctor’s office, waiting for him to come in. "Have you felt the butterflies with Pacey all this time?" Andie looked over at Joey.

"Yes, I know they will never go away. You feel them with him, don’t you?"

"Yes. Does it bother you?"

"Not at all. I am really happy for you. I think he is wonderful. I just never loved him as more than a friend."

"I know."

The doctor seemed to appear out of nowhere. "Good afternoon, Miss Potter, soon to be Witter, I see from your records." Joey stared wide-eyed at him as he continued. "You and your fiancée are going to have a baby." Joey’s heart skipped a beat. A baby. Their baby. Growing inside her. She was overjoyed. "I can continue on with the exam and do your sonogram this afternoon if you would like?" The doctor was now smiling, too.

"No, I want to wait and come back with Pacey. But, can you tell me when I am due?"

"Of course, looks like here, mid to late May."

"Perfect." She said as the got up to leave. They stopped at the front counter to schedule Joey’s next appointment and made their way back to the apartment.

Andie helped Joey prepare a dinner for her and Pacey, then decided to go to a hotel to wait on Dawson, since his flight would be arriving about 1 in the morning, and so Joey and Pacey could be alone when she broke the news to him. They said their good-byes and Andie wished her luck and was on her way.

Pacey arrived home about 7:30. The apartment was clean. Candles were lit everywhere. There was a delicious looking meal on the table. "Jo?" Pacey called out to her, since she was nowhere in sight. She stepped into the doorway in silk, spaghetti strap, navy blue gown that touched the ground.

"Hey, Witter."

"Jo, you look amazing. What is all this about?"

"Can’t I plan a nice dinner for my fiancée?"

"Well, of course. I was just wondering if something was going on?"

"Kinda, but let’s eat dinner first."

"You’re the boss, Potter."

They ate and talked about the restaurant. Pacey told her all the details about how it was designed and that he kept the name original as "Icehouse 2". She loved it. After dinner, they went and cuddled on the window seat. It was beginning to rain softly outside. Joey was leaned back into Pacey, burying herself in his warmth and love. "Something you need to tell me? Like why I saw Andie McPhee going into the Hilton when I was on my home?" Pacey was beginning to get curious since she hadn’t mentioned anything else through dinner.

"Just a little sisterly bonding is all."

"Really?"

"Sorta."

"What do you mean sorta? How about you tell me what is going on, Potter?"

"Are you sure you are ready?"

"I have been ready for the last two hours."

"Okay. Pacey, you know that I love you more than life itself, right? And anything that comes our way, we can handle?" Semi-worried Pacey gazed at her and shook his head. "I’m, we’re-- going to have a b-baby," she stuttered. Pacey just looked at her. Trying to decide if he believed what he just heard. He must have just sat there for a long time because she poked him. "Say something, Pace."

He smiled. "I think it is wonderful, Jo. There is nothing to handle. We are going to have a baby. We are going to get married. Words can’t describe how happy I am."

"Really, you are happy?"

"Never been happier."

"That’s why Andie was here a few days early. She went to the doctor with me to make sure. But I didn’t have a sonogram or anything done, because I wanted you to be there for that."

"When?"

"Mid or late May."

"That’s great. We’ll still have time to have the wedding before he or she is born."

"That’s exactly what I thought when I found out."

"Great minds think alike."

"Yes, they do." They both smiled happily as they lay back against the wall. Pacey leaned down and began kissing her. He picked her up in his arms and carried her into their bedroom, both of them feeling butterflies now more than ever.
