Prologue: This is a story set in the future. The year would be 2001. Zac is 16 and a Sophomore now attending public high school and taking college courses at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Taylor, who is now 18, just completed Home schooling through Senior year (12th Grade) and is a Freshman at ORU. Isaac, now almost 21, is a Junior at ORU.
Chapter 1-The Fight

Zac Hanson glanced down at his shoes. They were doing it again. His brothers, Isaac and Taylor, were fighting, as they had been ever since Taylor moved out. The past year had not been good at all for him and his brothers.

Ike and Tay both had completed Home-Schooling through 12th Grade and were attending classes at Oral Roberts University.

Upon graduation, Taylor had moved out. He had a girlfriend named Lauren, and they rented an apartment right off-campus. Tay was more cooperative than ever with everyone, except for Ike, and Zac assumed that it was better without him at home, anyways.

Ike had stayed at home, probably because him and his brothers were still promoting records when he had completed high school, and he started taking the college courses through the mail. He had met a woman named Kathryn about three months before, and they were still going strong.

Zac was the same, now almost an inch taller than Ike and Taylor, with the same blond hair as always, and the same Hazel eyes. He was changed, alot, on the inside though. Zac no longer was as goofy. He was sincere and kind to everyone, and he was very popular at his High School. He didn't have a girlfriend

The band had officially separated, at least for the time being. Their contract with Mercury had expired, and when asked to sign with someone else, the three had gotten into a fight, or it was more like Tay versus Ike, with Zac being bounced back and forth between the two. It was Zac who had told all of the record agencies that they had split up for a while. It was probably for the best anyways, it's not like they couldn't just start off where they left off or anything, in a few years.

Zac sighed. "Shut-up! Gosh, do you two ever stop fighting?" he asked over the yelling coming from his brothers.

"Thanks Zac!" said Jessie, Zac's thirteen year old sister.

"Yeah!" agreed Avery, his eleven year old sister.

Ike looked over at Taylor with an icey glare. Taylor returned it.

"Look, I don't have to be here. I can just go back home." Tay said.

"This is home!" Mack, thier eight year old brother yelled. Mack was incredibly smart.

"Well, not to me anymore, it isn't." Tay said. With that, he stormed out of the room, and out of the house.

Zac's youngest sibling, Zoe, walked into the room. "What happened?" she asked. Zoe was only three, going on four in three months.

"Me and Tay got into another fight." Ike said, sitting on the couch and patting his lap for Zoe to sit on.

"What's up with him anyways?" asked Jessie.

"I don't know. He's nice to me." answered Zac.

"He's just changed so much." Ike explained. "Well, now that everyone is here, except for Tay, we should head over to the hospital."

"Can I drive?" asked Zac.

"Yeah, but be careful." Ike said, tossing him the keys.

Zac carefully backed out of the drive.

The whole car, which was full of six people, was dead silent.

They arrived at the hospital, unloading and walking into the main entrance.

"Um, excuse me?" Ike asked the receptionist," can you please tell me what room Diana Hanson is in?"

"Yes. She is down that hall in room 238, located on the right." she said, pointing down one of the many hallways on the floor.

"Thanks." Zac said.

The whole group headed down the hall and entered 238.

"Mommy!" Zoe yelled as she ran up to her mother, who was lying in the bed.

"Hi Zoe!" said Diana with all the energy she had. The kemotherapy had taken it's effects.

"Mom!" Mack bent down and kissed her on the cheek.

"Where's my Taylor?" Diana asked, looking for him in the group of her children.

"Tay's gone somewhere. We had another fight." Isaac admitted.

"Isaac, you know that it isn't good, you two fighting all the time. Why, I remember when you were recording Middle Of Nowhere and you two were inseperable. Now, well, I don't know what happened." Diana said, disapointedly.

"Well, we've changed. Everyone has." Ike said.

Zac felt a tear about to fall down his face. He left the room. Out in the hall, he saw his father, Walker, walking with a cup of coffee towards the room. Just as the tear fell, Walker passed him, walking into the room.

Diana had a form of cancer, and she had just been in sergury to remove yet another tumor that they had found. Zac just hated seeing his mother in so much pain. He leaned against the wall, sliding his back down to the bottom of it, so he was in a little ball at the bottom of the wall.

He buried his face in his hands and tried to stop the tears from falling.

Suddenly he felt someone shaking him. "Zac? Zac, what is it?" Tay asked him.

"I, I just couldn't take it, to see her like, like that." Zac admitted.

"Hey, it's okay, she'll be okay." Tay said, sounding as if he was trying to assure himself as well as Zac.

"Why did you come?" asked Zac.

"Well, she's my mom, and Ike can't stop me from seeing her." Tay said stubbornly.

"Tay, why do you always get like that, all stubborn, with Ike. He means well." Zac asked.

"I don't know."

"You two used to be thisclose, though. What happened?" he asked.

"I don't know. I guess we grew up." Tay sat down next to Zac.

"Tay?"

"Yeah?" Taylor answered.

"I miss you. We never talk anymore!" he said, admitting to what he had been feeling ever since Taylor had moved out.

"Well, it's not like we don't have the same Calculus Course, brainiac." Tay teased.

"I know. Still, it's not the same." Zac admitted, remembering the numerous times Tay had asked him for help in the course.

"Yeah...How's about we go visit mom, now?" asked Taylor, getting up.
