I'll Never Let Go, Chapter EightI'll Never Let Go, Chapter Eight- The Photo Shoot
The days passed faster than usual. Even on Christmas, it wasn't the same without Cory. Zac longed to call her and apologize, but he couldn't.
The entire vacation passed within a blink of the eye, and Zac found himself standing at his locker on Wednesday, trying to figure out what he wanted to put in it.
Emma walked by, seeing Zac and stopping at his locker.
"Hey Zac." Emma said.
"Hey." he said grimly.
"Did you hear that Corynne broke up with Micheal over Winter Break?" Emma asked.
"No, and I don't care either." Zac said.
"She told him that it was because of you." Emma stated.
"Me? What did I do?" asked Zac.
"Well, Corynne said that you called her, accusing her of sleeping with Micheal, which, I should mention, was a lie." Emma paused to see his reaction," Then she called Micheal and cried, telling him what you said. He got really mad, started threatening to do stuff, you know?
"Well, then someone else called, saying that she was a slut for sleeping woth Micheal as well. She called Micheal back, after asking this person where she heard it from. Micheal was spreading it."
"I know. You told me, remember?" said Zac impatiently.
"Yeah, well, he lied again, accusing you of spreading the rumor. She didn't believe him, and he started talking shit about you. Well, of course, she jumped to your offense, one thig led to another, and, they broke up. Let me just assure you that it was, in fact, a rumor."
It wasn't true. Zac felt like jumping up and down. Cory hadn't slept with Micheal. Micheal made the whole thing up. Zac sighed in releif.
"Thanks Emma. Got to run, might be late for PE!" Zac yelled as he jogged to the locker rooms.
It was January ninth, exactly a week after Zac had found out about Cory's breakup with Micheal. The only thing was, Zac was so ashamed of what he had believed, he didn't want to talk to Cory.
Cory was probably not ready to yet, anyways. It was obvious that they both went out of their ways to avoid eachother, and Zac couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that their friendship was probably gone forever.
When he got home from school, Zac crashed on the couch, watching music videos and just chilling. Then the phone rang.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Hi. May I please speak with either Isaac, Taylor, or Zac Hanson please?" a woman said into the phone.
"Yeah this is Zac." he replied.
"Well, Zac, nice to talk to you again." she said.
"Uh, yeah. No offense, but I have no idea who this is." Zac said.
"Oh, this is Cindy, one of the writers at Seventeen Magazine." Cindy said.
"Oh, hi! I remember you from all of our Seventeen Photo shoots!" Zac remembered.
"Yeah, that's me!" she said. "Now, I was calling because I am doing an update on all of the hottest bands of the ninties, and I was wondering if you and the other former members would care to do an interview."
"In person?" Zac asked.
"Well, some of the writers are going to Oklahoma City in about a week, and we - I - was kinda wondering if you and your brothers would like to come and do a shoot, then an interview." she confirmed.
"Do you mind if I get back to you on this one?" Zac asked. "I need to see if Tay and Ike can do it on...what day was that again?"
"It will be not tomorrow, but next Thursday." she replied.
"Yeah, I'll ask them and get right back to you." he stated.
"Okay. Here's my number." she gave him her cell-phone number.
"Great. Call you back."
"Bye."
"Bye." Zac hung up the phone.
He hadn't done an interveiw since the breakup, about seven or eight months ago. This would be interesting.
Suddenly, a brilliant idea came to him. He knew how to get Cory back, and have an excellent interview.
A week later, Zac sat at the wheel in his '58 Chevy driving down the interstate. He had convinced his brothers on doing an interview for 'old times sake'.
He glanced in the rearview mirror at Taylor, who sat there with a frown on his face and stared aimlessly out the window.
After focussing on the road for a few minutes, he heard Ike messing around with his tape player. Zac glanced over as Ike pressed play on the player. The sound of "Boomerang" the first song off of their Boomerang Album filled the car as Zac glanced over at Ike, who had somewhat of a blissed out look on his face as he reminised.
Zac smiled and began singing his part in a very fallsetto voice. That got Tay to laugh, and soon all three were harmonizing in their low voices, and ocasionally doing a falsetto.
When the song ended, Zac pulled into an exit. He needed more gas and he was surprisingly getting sick of driving.
When they found a gas station, he pulled out a credit card that his parents had given him and used it in the gas pump. Ike was busy going into the Market, coming out with a Surge for each of the boys and a few pre-packed sandwiches.
They got back in the car and Taylor took over the wheel.
"God, Zac! How can you stand driving with a stick shift?" Tay asked, trying to remember how to change gears with the stick, unlike the automatic in his own car.
"You get used to it, I guess." Zac said, popping a peice of his sandwich into his mouth.
"Yo, Zac, put Boomerang into the tape player, will ya?" Ike asked from his position, sprawled across the back seat.
"Oh, hello. Thanks for agreeing to do this and everything." Cindy told the boys as she led them to a studio in Oklahoma City. It was the next day and the three former members of Hanson werewalking down the busy street, trying to keep up with Cindy, who was rushing past people as if there was no tomorrow.
"This is it." she smiled and pointed to a huge building.
They went in and rode the elevator to the twenty-first level of the building, where there was a photo studio and photographers setting up.
"Okay, they are here." Cindy said, then turning and addressing the guys,"okay, make-up and wardrobe is that way. See you in forty-five minutes."
With that, the boys were wisked off and dressed and plastered in make-up for the hot lights.
Forty-five minutes later, Zac found himself remembering just why he had hated doing photo shoots.
"Okay, I want you to do one with the white backdrop. And the tallest one, you," the photographer said, pointing to Zac,"I want you in the middle. The other two on the outside."
The guys took roll after roll of pictures, when the photographer was finally finished.
Cindy walked over, with a huge smile on her face. "I just heard that they want to put you guys on the cover of our March issue, which will be coming out on Valentine's Day! Isn't that great?" she asked.
They all plastered huge grins on their faces. "Uh-huh." Zac said.
"Great, now we need a good interveiw today, boys, so if you want to follow me, oh, and don't worry about the clothes. You guys can keep them if you want, kind of as part of your salary." she hurried down the hall to a small conference room where there was a single table, set up with a tape recorder and a notebook, which Zac presumed to be Cindy's.
They sat down and began the interveiw, which started off with the usual questions and got a little more personal. Zac answered all of the questions the best he could, accomplishing his plan of getting Cory back and giving a great interview.
"Thanks for your time, guys, and I will be contacting you with your check and everything else." Cindy said, hurrying off anmd leaving them in the dressing room where they changed back into their clothes and put the new stuff in a bag to take home.
