South Island, New Zealand, December 1998

We took a 3 week tour of the South Island and had a great time. We walked part of the Abel Tasman Track, and Patrick, Martha and Mike each completed the Routeburn Track crossing of the Southern Alps

Top two photos on the right show the Franz Joef Glacier, which descends from Mount Cook to the rainforest of the South Island's west coast.

Below that is a photo of Martha and Patrick in the high country of Fiordland which is the southwest corner of the South Island. The photo on the bottom left shows Martha, Patrick and Kelly out on a boat cruise of Milford Sound (a fiord)
