Granado is a fairly new company, but it has a number of dedicated fans already. I was fairly sure I would be safe from them since I'm more into fantasy parts or unusual dolls at this time--not to mention trying to NOT BUY ANY MORE PERIOD (and failing spectacularly). When I first saw the photos of the Charles sculpt I thought he looked a lot like King Charles II of England, but was on the slightly homely side. And then I just couldn't stop looking and just slid right down that slippery slope.
As with my Iplehouse Tedros, I usually don't like facial hair, but am somehow intrigued when it is done well. I thought Charles was a bit much like my Tedros. Should they be brothers? But it's difficult to tell if dolls will look good together unless you see a comparison, and Charles was a new sculpt and not in owners' hands. So I thought I should not get him in the Sunlight resin he was shown in, but go pink skin (if he turned out too pink, the color would probably fade nicely, whereas yellow might get too yellow), not worry about matching with my other dolls, and perhaps get decked out in Restoration costume and actually BE a sort of Charles II?
Granado was having an Event where they were offering free faceups... so although Charles is a standard sculpt, I considered the Event as a limited-in-time thing, so I didn't wait to order him later, but just went right on ahead (despite trying NOT to buy dolls...!)

2015. I had always intended to have Sinjun dress up as King Charles I of England: it was just a natural.
2015. It's not easy to find someone to commission to do historical costumes. I found Beyond Wonderland (Marishka, in Poland) on DoA. They were a little more costume-y than I wanted, but I'm happy with the results.
