Catalina is just 26 miles off the Coast of Southern California.  One of Santa Barbara Islands.  It is off Long Beach.  Discovered in 1542 by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, it was given its present name by Vizcaino in 1602.  In 1919 William Wrigley bought and developed it as a resort.  On it is the city Avalon.
