PEACH-LEAVED BELLFLOWER, Campanula persicifolia
A very popular perennial that produces beautiful spikes of blue and white, 2 to 3 inch flowers, each formed from 5 petals fused to form the bells. These hardy, easy to grow plants grow as a leaf clump and send out flower stalks that are up to three foot high midsummer. A showy plant that is great in a cottage garden, perennial border or rock garden and for cut flowers. Height: 3' Spread: 1'. Repeat flowering. Sun or part shade. (Picture from my garden).


CLEMATIS, Tanjutica
Striking small yellow bell-shaped flowers. Fast growing hardy vine. Blooms July thru October. Plant in well-drained, humus rich, fertile soil in full sun.

CORAL BELLS FIREFLY, Heuchera
Spikes of coral colored, bell-shaped flowers give the plant its name. Beautiful foliage. They grow best in well-drained soil but dislike clay. The plants are up to two feet tall when in bloom. If the old flowers are removed a fall display of bloom may occur. Remove and replace old plants when the crowns get old and perform poorly. A winter mulch prevents heaving. MALTESE CROSS, Lychnis chalcedonica
A very showy plant covered with bright scarlet maltese cross-shaped florets in large flower heads. Excellent for cutting and borders. Extremely hardy in the North. Grow in well drained soil in sun or part shade. Dead-head to prolong flowering. Height:4' Spread: 1' (Right picture from my garden).


SILVER MOUND, Artemesia
A compact, mounded plant. Fernlike, silver-gray foliage. Excellent in the rock garden or for edging. Extremely popular foliage plant. Evergreen and good for cutting and/or drying. Drought tolerant. Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Dislikes heavy, clay soil, and will die back and may be short-lived in such circumstances. Cut back to ground in autumn. Height: 10". Spread: 1'.



MOUNTAIN BLUET, Centaurea montana
A hardy robust two foot perennial with broad hairy leaves that produces an abundance of shaggy 2 to 3 inch cornflower-blue blossoms held above the foliage in early summer. A perfect plant for carefree gardens and a wildflower planting. Makes a good cut flower. Full sun or part shade. 2' height & spread.


MUSK MALLOW, Malva moschata
A hardy, attractive, perennial also called the Musk Rose is covered with bushy masses of 2 inch, five petaled, very showy, pink or white blossoms with ragged edges starting midsummer. The upright 18 to 24 inch stems are covered with hairy palm-shaped leaves, with the flowers being mostly in the upper leaf axils. An easy to grow, showy, low maintenance plant that is good for a low perennial border and in wildflower gardens. Grow in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in sun. Dead-head to prevent self-seeding. Height: 3' Spread: 2'

Easy to grow perennial. Well-branched plants have strong stems. Lovely spikes of pink, violet-blue and white blooms provide outstanding color early to midsummer. Excellent in the garden border or as a fresh cut. Grow in moist, loamy, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Height: & spread: 1'


ACHILLEA PTARMICA, The Pearl
A very hardy, easy to grow, 16 to 30 inch perennial with ferny grey-green foliage that is fragrant when touched. The elegant, white, double, one inch blossoms are borne profusely in loose sprays on long stems from June through out the summer. Used in perennial borders and rock gardens. A long lasting cut flower and excellent dried for winter arrangements.Will grow in any well-drained soil, but prefers a deep, moist well-drained soil in full sun. One of my favorites.


SNOW IN SUMMER, Cerastium tomentosum 'Yo Yo'
A highly valued ground cover because of its' woolly-gray foliage. A good specimen for rock gardens or edging. Crisp, white flowers have a luminous quality. A long-flowering evergreen that is disease and pest free. Grow in any well-drained soil in full sun. Bloom time: early summer. Height: 6". Spread: Indefinite.



FERNLEAF YARROW, Achillea filipendulina
A very hardy, easy to grow, northern perennial variety "Parker's Gold" has 24 to 36 inch stems that carry large, flat, 5 to 7 inch dense flower heads consisting of hundreds of tiny bright yellow, daisy like blossoms and a ferny, soft textured, grey-green foliage that is fragrant when touched. Blooms from late June through out the summer. A long lived plant used in perennial borders and rock gardens. Long lasting cut flowers and excellent dried for winter arrangements.


SNOW ON THE MOUNTAIN, Aegopodium
Rapid spreading ground cover with green and white variegated foliage. White flowers. Will grow in difficult spots where nothing else can survive. Full sun to full shade. Height: 2'. Spread: indefinite. Blooms in late spring.

Delicate light blue flowers above very attractive compound leaves. Height: 3'. Spread: 1'. Grow in moist well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Bloom time: early summer.


PINCUSHION FLOWER, Scabiosa
Produces a profusion of lavender-blue flowers for a long bloom season. A good plant for the border and excellent cut flower. Attracts butterflies. Grow in alkaline to neutral, well-drained, fertile soil in sun. Dead-head to encourage repeat flowering. Bloom time: summer. Height and spread: 2'.

AQUILEGIA, Dwarf Columbine 'Biedermeier Mixture'
A distinctive dwarf variety of columbine, ideal for the partially shaded rock garden or towards the front of beds and borders. It combines well with other compact flowering plants in containers, as well. Colombine prefers a partially-shaded location with well-drained soil. Leave seed pods on plants to reseed or remove to prolong blooming. Seeds sown in earliest spring may bloom the first year. Plant 12-18" apart. Height: 10-14". Bloom time: Early summer.





STONECROP, Sedum 'Autumn Fire'
Interesting fleshy-leaved plants that are perfect for a rock garden or dry areas, and taller varieties for the perennial border. Distinct foliage changes with seasons. Hardy, will grow in any soil. Good cut flower. Attracts butterflies & bees. Grow in alkaline to neutral, well-drained soil in sun, or in light shade. Should be divided every few years to retain flowering. Height: 30". Bloom time: late summer.


BLUE OAT GRASS, Helictotrichon
Ornamental grass with stiff, blue-gray foliage and nice habit. Evergreen with attractive seed heads. Grow in alkaline to neutral, well-drained soil in full sun. Bloom time: Early summer. Height 24-30".


LILY OF THE VALLEY, Convallaria
Fragrant, white, bell-shaped flowers followed by tiny, orage berries. Excellent ground cover for shade. Good cut flower. Grow in moist, fertile, humus-rich soil in full or part shade. Height: 10". Spread: 18". Bloom time: Late spring.


SPOTTED DEAD NETTLE, Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver'
Herbaceous ground cover or contrast plant which radiates color in darker shaded areas. Showy silver-white foliage with scalloped blue-green margins. Lavender-pink flowers. Grow in moist, poor, well-drained soil in part or full shade. Height: 8". Spread: 4'. Bloom time: spring.


CATMINT, Nepeta nervosa 'Blue Carpet'
Violet-blue bloomspikes several inches tall atop low-growing, spreading 10-inch plants of spinach-green with small, narrow foliage. The florets fan out from all sides of the spikes, held up and out. These violet-blue spikes bloom all summer atop vigorous 10-inch plants that spread readily in any soil--even those infertile, dry spots where little else is happy. These plants quickly form a low-growing mat that carpets the ground and reblooms year after year! Grow in any soil that is well-drained, in full sun. Height & spread: 12"
