HIS CAREER
HIS CAREER Brodeur in my eyes is the best goaltender ever. He started out playing Ice Hockey at age 3. At first, he was on offense instead of goaltender. He filled in when the original goaltender didn't show. He stayed as goaltender and eventually went to star in the QMJHL as ST.Hhyacinthe laser's no. 1 goaltender. When he was with the laser in 1989-1990 his record was 23-13-2 with a 4.01 GAA. 1990-1991 when he was the Devil's first round choice (20th in all) he still played on laser his record was 22-24-4 and had a GAA. of 3.30 and went to the NHL as back-up for Chris Terreri and had a 2-1-0 record and 3.35 GAA. Next year he went back to laser and had a 27-16-4 record and had a 3.39 GAA. Then, 1992-93 , he went to the AHL and played for Utica and had a 14-13-5 record and a GAA. of 4.04. In, 1993-94 his first year of starting in the NHL with the devils, had a record of 27-11-8 with a GAA. of 2.40, he also won the Caldor trophy as the roookie if the year. In 1994-95, he led the devils to thier first ever stanley cup victory with a record 19-11-6 and a 2.45 GAA. In the 1995-96 his record was 34-30-12 and a GAA. of 2.34. In the 1996-97 season he had one great season with a 37-14-13 record and had the lowest GAA. of 1.88 since Tony Esposito's 1971-72 season of 1.76 GAA. Healso led the leage in shut-outs with 10 shut-outs. Also in the playoffs against the Canadians on April 17, 1997, NJ Devils goaltender, Martin Brodeur became one of only two goaltenders in NHL history to score a goal in the playoffs. His career total after that season was a record of 119-67-39, 22 shut-outs and a 2.25 GAA. TRANSACTION/CAREER NOTES Suffered pinched nerve in elbow and slight concussion (March 9, 1990). ...
