Welcome
to
Betty's
Haven
This is the old Greenleaf
bridge over
Big Greenleaf creek. It was
built by
the WPA in the 30's and was
completed
in 1938. My father in law helped
build
this bridge. He would walk about
5 miles
to work. There used to be a
country school
just North of this bridge, called
Greenleaf school.
There was a country store across
the road from the
school. There was a thriving
community back then.
The land is now a wildlife refuge
leased from Camp Gruber
who took the land back in 1942.
The people all had to move.
This Big Greenleaf creek flows
into what is now a lake
called Greenleaf Lake. See more
about it on my web page
called "Greenleaf
Lake pic's"
