I live in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, about 15 miles from Mt. Rushmore. During the Summer I work at a campground. However during the Winter, there is very little work available here in the Black Hills.
So I have started a Wood Crafting Business, creating unique Wall Plaques, Cribbage Boards and Toys from the beautiful Ponderosa Pine. The Black Hills get thier name from the dark appearance of these trees from a distance.
All of my things are made of wood that is harvested and milled here in the Hills. (Except for the dowels of course, I buy them, who knows where they are made!!) Most of the wood I use is the scrapes from the Saw Mills, and would be burned if I did not rescue it.
I would like to chat to other Crafters, to exchange ideas and learn more about the production and marketing of my wood crafts. And if you come to the HILLS, PLEASE look around in the shops for my work, it will say "T. Clay Pratt" or "clay of Custer" on the back.
Also please sign my "Guest Book" at the bottom of the page.
Thank you.
