A poem is thought, in word and
rhyme,
To share with all, and last through
time.

SOBER WISDOM
A thrilling tale? Well, maybe not, but
one that may amuse.
A story most related, to those of us
that choose....
To, on an impulse, take a drink, or two or even more,
And feel that we have, in our minds,
intelligence galore!
We've talked about, oh, world affairs,
and settled them for sure,
We feel, with total confidence, we've
made the world secure.
And knowing that our drunken state,
just couldn't cloud our thinking,
We'll argue, laugh, and sometimes cry,
yet boast,"It's not the drinking."
But in the next, yet sober time, that
we may realize,
We know, for sure, if not for booze,
we'd never be so wise!

TIME WASTED
Too much time wasted, while on earth,
in many different ways
Is time unmeasured by a clock, or
labled 'hours' or 'days'
The time we stand in lines and wait,
like cattle led to slaughter
Is wasted, each and every day, by every son and daughter
The minutes and the time we lost, can
never be regained
Perhaps the values placed on time, are
values not attained
Forever gone is yesterday, tomorrow
never comes
Still, sadly, time is wasted, by each
and everyone
So, may we wisely use our time, for our short time on earth
And learn to value precious time, each
moment from our birth

UNTITLED
A true and lasting friendship, I feel
I've found with you
A deep and honest open love, that's
felt by far too few
The time and space that we two share,
on this the planet earth
Can only make us stronger yet, in body, mind and worth
We share our joys and sorrows, and talk about our past
And though we often think alike, our
differences are vast
Tonite, I looked into your eyes, as you looked into mine
The distance traveled spititually, I
felt to be devine.

WHO CARES?
The neighbors, pedigreed pooch, killed by a drunk driver: who cares?
A missing child in Oregon: who cares?
A couple engaged in physical combat: who cares?
An elderly woman with Alzheimers, and lost: who cares?
A movie, on the cable network, about a couple in love: who cares?
An addict, needing some 'tar', so he isn't sick: again, who cares?
A young adult, sexually interested in his own gender: who cares, do you?
A woman, lost in self-destruction and lack of interest: who really cares?
This world, so warpped in ego trips, affairs, and sorrow: who cares?
A country, far away, engaged in war: who cares?
A Lotto winner in Tennessee: again, who cares?
BUT, MOST OF ALL, THERE'S YOU, AND HERE'S ME.....who does really care?

ABOUT TIME
It seems as though I blinked my eyes,
and fifty years flew past,
Impatiently, I've waited, slow pass the hours, not fast.
With total lack of patience, I've
wished much time away,
I now know times importance, untouched, time fades away.
The cost of time is priceless, can't
hold time in your hands,
Nor see time with the naked eye, yet
our lives, time commands.
Have learned to find time precious, to
respect times true worth,
We need to use time wisely, what time
we have on earth.
A timely thought occurs to me, I've
learned how to keep time,
In music and in poetry, it's rhythm and it's rhyme.
There's too much time, too little time, a time to live, to die,
And now it's time to end this poem, as
endless time flies by.
