TRIBUTES
BY
BOBBI McGEE

THIS PAGE DEDICATED TO ALL ARIZONA LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS

This one always makes me cry

I want to dedicate it to my daughter-in-law, she is a "cop's" wife

TRIBUTE TO A COP'S WIFE

Author unknown
Honey, I'm sure you've heard so many times during our married life,

From those who ask, "Aren't you proud to be a policeman's wife?"

But Honey, let me say this: It's you I'm proud of, and they would be, too,

If only they could see what it takes to be one and what she has to go through.

To be a policeman, it's no easy task to do what we have to do,

But it's a much harder job to be his wife, and it takes someone special like you.

And I know God chose you to be with me in this life,

because He knew you had the quality and strength to be a cop's wife.

Some may say that I have courage and I'm a hero and that sort of thing:

And when I hear it, this thought to my mind it always brings:

It's you, Babe, you're the courage behind this man's badge, don't you see?

And it's you, Honey, who's the real hero here, not me.

And I know you get lonely and frustrated at times and wonder if it's worth it all;

but if you ever left me, this "brave courageous hero" would be no man at all.

And I know you worry about the temptations I face on the streets,

Of the women of the night and the girls that I meet,

But let me tell you this, Girl, and you listen good:

There's nobody on this earth who could replace you, they certainly never could.

And I know there are times when I go to work and you kiss me good-bye,

That you must worry and wonder if this is the day that I've chosen to die.

And, Honey, if that should ever happen and someday become true,

Remember, Girl, my very last thoughts on this earth will be of you.

Your loving husband, A Cop

And let's not forget there are some great female "cops" out there too.

Their husbands don't have an easy life.

A TRIBUTE TO POLICE OFFICERS

LOST IN THE LINE OF DUTY

by Ted Newman

They come in all genders,

They come in all races

They come in all shapes

They come in all faces

They share one distinction

They risk and they serve.

They all know the fear.

They all have the nerve

They've given the max.

The most one can give.

To forfeit one's life

That others might live.

Here words can't begin

To give tribute or praise

Real gratitudes lost

In the words of a phrase

But somehow we must try

With best efforts made

To remember those heroes

And the prices they've paid

To honor their passage

May the memories not cease.

May they not be forgotten

These Officers of the Peace

The world may forget

Who these heroes are

The protectors who wore

The shield or the star

But to comrades and families

Their memories are dear

And those quiet sleeping heroes

Will always be near

So today let's give pause.

Take a moment to share

With others recalling those comrades

Not here.

Let's celebrate memories

Along with the pain

So we know with assurance

They did not die in vain.

A PART of AMERICA DIED
author unknown
Somebody killed a poiceman today and A part of America died

A piece of our country he swore to protect Will be buried with him at his side

The suspect who shot him will stand up in court With counsel demanding his rights.

While a young widowed mother must work for her kids and spend many long, lonely nights

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast To his name they will add a gold star

Yep, somebody killed a policeman today In your town or mine.

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors A cop put his life on the line

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city sreet And he stands at each new rookie's side.

He answered the call, of himself gave his all And a part of America died.
