Sheikh Obaid is a preacher, from Lebanon, kidnapped by Israeli commandos in 1989, and taken out of Lebanon. He is just one of hundreds of prisoners held without charge and with no prospect of trial by the Israelis.
Another innocent victim is Mustapha Dirani, who was kidnapped on Eid Al-Adha in 1994 by Israeli commandos again from Lebanon. Mustapha Dirani suffers from varying degrees of paralysis, and there are grave concerns about his and the Sheikh’s health. Both men are in their early forties, and have young families. Lawyers sent to represent the two found them together in Sarafan Military Complex in January 1997, but were denied access. This was the first time since their kidnap that anyone outside of his captors knew where they were.

We are producing a full report on the plight of these two prisoners of faith, as well as the others from Lebanon and Palestine who are being mercilessly abused in this way.
