			    A One Night Stand

The rain started to move into a faster rhythm. Kurunoe stirred and
straightened up. He frowned at the cave entrance. It was almost dawn and
his partner haven’t appeared yet. The bed next to him was still
untouched from the night before. :… Youko no baka! …: he rolled his
eyes. Their plan to rob the big fortress near the west territory was put
to waste, unconsciously he reached for his red ruby pendent and played
with it. Soothing his anger. He gritted his teeth. :… Just because some
idiot didn’t keep track of time! …: He slumped back on his bed, staring
hard at the ceiling.

Then leaves rustled. Kurunoe turned and saw a silver youko shaking
himself dry form the rain. He was filthy with mud and hell knows what
else. "Brr… Damn… it’s so cold," uttered the fox. Kurunoe straightened
up and stared at the fox. "You idiot," he greeted the silver youko.
Youko Kurama looked up and blinked into Kurunoe’s eyes, simply puzzled.

"Now what did I do wrong?" asked the silver youko, brushing his
silver strands of hair back into place. He walked over to sit next to
his partner and arched his brow. Kurunoe slapped the youko’s head.
"What!?" Kurama frowned, feeling where Kurunoe had slapped him.

"We’re suppose to rob the big fortress yesterday night, remember?"
Kurunoe lunged forward, their nose nearly touched. Kurama frowned. "Em?"
he thought for a while. "Ohh… gomen, oboette iru yo!" he grinned.
Kurunoe rolled his eyes. "How can we be rich if you keep acting like
this?" Kurunoe got up and walked his way to the boiling pot of water,
his hand swinging his ruby pendant.

Kurama shrugged. "I dunno… but I kind of like it this way. Don’t
you think it’s fun?" Kurama pondered. Kurunoe shook his head. "You are
such a silly youko," he brushed his hair and tied it up. "Oh, now I’m
the silly one! Who messed up the last trip? You were the one who got
tangled in those stupid vines! Thank Inari I was there to help you
untangle it!" Youko Kurama rolled his eyes and slumped on the bed.

"Okay, just forget it!" Kurunoe slipped on his black apparel.
"Anyway, where were you?" he inquired, putting on his black hat. Youko
Kurama’s face lit up, he dug for something in his white attire. "Someone
gave me this…" he trailed off as he put down a handful of diamonds and
gold pieces.

Kurunoe laughed. "You telling me someone gave you that?" he
pointed at the treasure. Kurama nodded proudly. Kurunoe narrowed his
eyes. "Willingly?" he smirked. Kurama nodded again. "Okay, you’re
telling me that someone willingly gave this to you?" he cleared his
statement.

"Yeah… but I had to do something in return though," the youko’s
smile disappeared. "What? you ran an errand for it? Is it hard?" Kurunoe
sat opposite to Kurama and studied the treasure, piece by piece. "Not
quite," was the only answer.

Kurunoe looked up into those golden orbs. "What did you do?" he
asked, his own eyes were intense. "I just slept with him," Kurama
answered casually.

"You what?! You…" Kurunoe dropped the big piece of diamond. Kurama
frowned. "Hey, it was me who slept with him, not you. So shut up!"
Kurama got up and slipped off his wet clothes.

Kurunoe eyed the youko’s pale naked body. His back was full of
scratches and there were blood trickling down between his legs. He put
down his hat and moved closer to the youko who was washing his dirty
clothes.

"Kurama…" Kurunoe called softly as he crouched next to the youko.
"What?" was Kurama’s answer, though he didn’t turned. "Wh… who did you
sleep with?" he asked, voice soft and concerned. The youko was silent.
He got up and took his washed clothes to dry them on the wall. He didn’t
answer Kurunoe’s question and walked away, still stark naked and
uncaring.

"Kurama!" Kurunoe raised his voice. He grabbed the youko’s hand
and stopped the silver youko from avoiding his question. "Who was it?"
he repeated himself. "None of your concern," Kurama snapped and freed
his hand from Kurunoe’s grip. The silver youko scooped a bucket of warm
water from the hot spring near the end of the cave and traced back his
steps to his own bed.

The other one sighed. "Kurama," he shook his head and took the pot
containing some herbs on top of the shelf which Kurama already prepared
and walked towards the youko who sat on his bed, starting to clean his
body.

Kurunoe held the youko’s hand. Kurama’s liquid golden eyes looked
into his own dark ones. He helped the youko clean himself and treated
his body with the herbs.

"You are to sleep the whole day today," Kurunoe told the youko
after he covered the youko with his blanket. Kurama wanted to protest
but Kurunoe put a finger on his thin lips. "Shhh… concentrate to heal
your backside. It’s badly torn," Kurunoe smirked. "Are you teasing me?"
Kurama gritted his teeth.

"No! I’m going to kill the bastard afterwards," he nodded. "Don’t
be stupid, he’s several times stronger than we both are," Kurama
protested. "I’ll at least cut his… umm… you know what," Kurunoe stood
up, leaving the youko.

"Hey, Kurunoe!" Kurama called as the guy picked up his black hat.
"What?" he asked, as he put on his hat. "How did you know who was it?"
asked the silver youko. Kurunoe smirked. "You had your body covered with
his youki. Who wouldn’t know the youki of the big fortress’ owner?"
Kurunoe rolled his eyes.

He knew. Kurunoe knew that Youko Kurama had went to the big
fortress to do the job alone. But maybe he slipped his steps and was
forced to sleep with that ugly youkai. "Serves you right," he uttered
before leaving the cave entrance.

Youko Kurama stared at the ceiling. He thought it would be a
perfect robbery. But something attracted his attention in the treasure
house yesterday. A long steel katana. Even though he had never used a
steel katana before in his life, he had a feeling that a katana would be
a part of his life sooner or later. Maybe it was destiny? Fate? He stood
there, eyeing the piece of weaponry.

Thinking of how a katana would relate to his life…

Then, there it was… the big ugly youkai with fingernails as sharp
as daggers found him staring at the katana in the showcase. They made a
deal. To get the youko out of the chain is to sleep with him. Or else,
he was to be captured and everyone would know that he was clumsy that
night.

But Youko Kurama valued his reputation more. He couldn’t hurt his
name as the ‘Heartless Legendary Thief’. So they agreed. A one night
stand against a handful of treasure.

He regretted a bit. If he had waited and went with Kurunoe, it
wouldn’t have been this way. But something in his youko heart said to go
by himself and… and what? screw up? Youko Kurama turned and closer his
eyes.

Still… his mind drifted to think about the katana he saw
yesterday… a katana…

Owari… ^_^

A one shot fic. I watched the second movie again and got this idea
popped up. I thought this was a non-yaoi fic but then when I read it
again, I addressed the ugly youkai as ‘him’. So, still… haahha… anyway,
this is dedicated to Kurunoe no Miko. Why? I just hope she won’t eat me
up for this!
