Deanna Durbin

Though not many people remember her today, Deanna Durbin was definitely one of the greatest actresses the movies has ever seen. She not only saved a movie studio from certain bankruptcy, but also brought joy and happiness into the hearts of the millions who've watched her films.

Deanna Durbin's movie career lasted thirteen years, from her debut as a fresh-faced fourteen year old in 1936, until her retirement as an established leading lady and movie star in 1949. During that time, Deanna made twenty-one feature films for Universal (later Universal-International) and two short films (for MGM and 20th Century-Fox), which averages out to approximately 2 hit films a year!
