The Brakes

Well we all know that the GTiR's Brakes can well be described as 'pants' after they've been 'given a bit' so the ideal solution would seem to be to uprate the discs and pads, Callan John has some useful information ;

'I was just on the phone to a clever geezer in Ashford motorsport pricing up some uprated brakes. £600 gets you a pair of large Superlight calipers, 310mm disks, pads, hoses.etc. He reckoned that he can do many types AP, Brembo etc but he doesn't recommend TAROX 6 pot conversions. Apparently the GTiR master cylinder wouldn't cope with six pot calipers and also because the caliper is compact each of the pots is too small to exert the force needed for adequate braking. Interesting things. But to get to the point after speaking with him he reckoned that the reason I was only seeing 195 bhp was the fact that I'm running on standard unleaded and not 98 Octane Super unleaded. Also he reckoned that bleed valves are a very bad idea and that a detonation test should be carried out on an engine that is to have it's boost pressure raised to safely predict the maximum boost permitted before detonation occurs.'

Anymore information out there?
