My Personal Philosophy (aka My Ramblings :) )

For me, being born cleft has been one huge experience.   Overall, I feel that it has been a good one.  I'm not one of those who ask "Why me?"  In fact, I don't ever remember thinking that.

Sure, I suppose that if I was born "normal" I probably wouldn't have been made fun of.  I wouldn't have to go through bouts of low self esteem and low confidence (or is that the same thing?).  But I also don't think I would be as tolerate for other people.  Basically I like everybody who I have met...only a very few are on my "Not to crazy about" list.  And it seems like I'm the only one who doesn't gawk at "cute" guys (and it isn't just because I'm married now ;) ).  During my teen years I didn't have my wall plastered with "cute" guys or a hunky guy calendar....instead I had posters of the Smothers Brothers on my wall.... go figure :).  I just had no interest in what other kids were into or not into.  Nothing wrong with that stuff, I just didn't care for it.

I guess the reason why I didn't notice any guys was because that since I was made fun of because of the way I looked, that I sometime decided that I wasn't going to judge other people like that.  I went by the Golden Rule... even though some who confronted me did not.
