Dickinsonia



Dickinsonia costata considered to be have an annelid grade of organisation. It possesses incipid cephalization (a recognised head end), segmentation and a through gut. Small scale divisions = 1 mm.

Dickinsonia Rex is much larger than D. costata, and has many more segments. This specimen shows frayed edges suggesting that it spent some time on the surface after death before being buried. The through gut can be clearly seen running through the center of the specimen. Scale in cms.
