Star Trek was a television series that was on the air
from 1966 to 1969. It was created by Gene Roddenberry.
Set in the 23rd Century starting in the year 2266,
The series told the story of a starship called the
U.S.S. ENTERPRISE; NCC-1701
,
a Constitution Class Starship which was a part of a vast fleet of
starships, all of which were part of
STARFLEET
.
Starfleet was a Scientific/Exploration entity that also
provided military defense for the
UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS
.
The United Federation Of Planets, founded in 2161, was the incorporation of
many planets in our part of the galaxy (Alpha Quadrant) into
a single body of government which included, the planet Earth.
Star Trek: The Original Series, tells the story of the 3rd Captain
and crew in the history of the Starship Enterprise. Like
STAR WARS
,
the story doesn't pick up at the beginning of Federation history,
rather 105 years later.
