"Melodies of Life"

This is something I just came up with and jotted down; I hope you like it. It's a songfic set after 'Endgame' ends, and it's titled 'Melodies of Life', after the song used in it. It's a pretty song, that's why I used it...

< Music starts; fade in to show Holly standing alone on a hillside. The wind ruffles her bangs, and she raises her gaze to the sky, allowing one to see how her soft chestnut eyes are misted with tears. >

~ Alone for a while I’ve been searching through the dark,

For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart, ~

< She raises one trembling hand to brush it against the smooth surface of her Magic Stone, which still hangs around her neck even though she no longer needs it to find the Phoenix. It glows slightly at her faltering touch, and she closes her shimmering eyes, letting the memories take her once more. >

~ To weave by picking up the pieces that remain,

Melodies of life – love’s lost refrain. ~

< Cut to a series of images, each fading into the next; Genki scooping up a laughing Mocchi in his arms and skating off, throwing a quick wink and grin over his shoulder; Golem, Tiger, Suezo, Hare, and Holly running after them; Genki catching Holly in his arms and pulling her out of danger as their eyes lock for a fleeting moment. >

~ Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why.

We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye. ~

< Scene of Genki and Holly gazing into one another’s eyes fades to a shot of the Phoenix flapping her golden wings and rising into the air. Genki waves wildly, a huge grin on his beaming face, even as the two fade into the horizon and disappear from view. >

~ And who’ll hear the echoes of stories never told?

Let them ring out loud till they unfold. ~

< Shot of Genki’s departure pulls out to show the other six searchers standing on the hillside, then the five monsters fade away, leaving Holly alone, gazing forlornly across the horizon. A fleeting image Genki reaching out a welcoming hand appears briefly, the sparkle in his eyes becoming that of the sun. >

~ In my dearest memories, I see you reaching out to me.

Though you’re gone, I still believe that you can call out my name. ~

< A breeze swirls past, ruffling Holly’s hair again, and it obscures the view for a moment before the scene changes to show Golem, alone, walking slowly down a road into a forest. Shafts of sunlight seep through the trees, dappling his stone gray skin with silver, and he pauses for a moment, glancing back over his shoulder before a branch covered with vibrant green leaves sweeps across our view. >

~ A voice from the past, joining yours and mine.

Adding up the layers of harmony. ~

< Scene changes again, and Tiger of the Wind makes his way across the snow-covered mountains, his deep blue fur standing out clearly against the swirling snow. A brief close-up of his face shows the intensity burning in his narrowed golden eyes, then the scene pulls out to show his slow, steady, unfaltering pace as he continues his search in the snowy bluffs. >

~ And so it goes, on and on.

Melodies of life,

To the sky beyond the flying birds – forever and beyond. ~

< The deep sapphire of Tiger’s fur fades into the blue of the sky; the swirling snow becomes misty clouds. The Phoenix sweeps into view, and the scene revolves slowly around as she flies steadily on, eventually pulling out as she soars into the air, a sparkling trail of light behind her. >

~ So far and away, see the bird as it flies by.

Gliding though the shadows of the clouds up in the sky. ~

< A beat of powerful wings, a scattering of sparkling light, and the scene switches to show the Grave of the Discs as the lost discs within glow with white radiance. As they turn into live monsters, one of them, a Serinity, gets up directly in front of us, giving us a close-up of her confused, wistful expression as she looks around at those around her and does not see a certain face in the crowd. >

~ I’ve laid my memories and dreams upon those wings.

Leave them now and see what tomorrow brings. ~

< Pixie and Big Blue are standing in the ruins of Naga’s castle, and the light coats them for a moment. Pixie closes her eyes and the medallion on her chest shatters and disappears, as does the ice giant’s. The two open their glistening eyes at the same moment and their gazes lock, and they simply look at one another, neither needing to say anything. >

~ In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me?

Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind? ~

< In a snowy, secluded area, a wolf with shimmering silver-white fur slowly gets to his feet. Shaking his mane to clean off the snow that is quickly settling upon it, he opens brilliantly blue eyes and looks around. Throwing back his head, he lets out a long, joyful, piercing howl. >

~ A voice from the past, joining yours and mine.

Adding up the layers of harmony. ~

< The howl is picked up by a group of Datons and Datonares as they stand on the edge of a rocky bluff. The view sweeps past them, then rests on another field in which we see a Blue Fur, a Hare Hound, and a Pink Eye looking around at the beautiful scenery. Then the Blue Fur shouts something and points into the air, and the three monsters stare into the air as the view pulls back rapidly, and the Phoenix’s wings beat powerfully as it sweeps grandly past once more. >

~ And so it goes, on and on.

Melodies of life,

To the sky beyond the flying bird – forever and on. ~

< The golden shimmer of the Phoenix’s wings transforms into a sparkle in Holly’s eyes, and she smiles, a little sadly, a single crystalline tear dropping from the corner of her soft bronze eye. Suezo’s voice calls her name, and she turns to smile at him, one hand gently tugging on the red ribbon she used to tie her hair back during the quest. >

~ If I should leave this lonely world behind,

Your voice will still remember our melody. ~

< She frees the ribbon from her hair, and as the breeze begins to play with it, Mocchi, Hare and Suezo run up to her. Holly’s smile becomes more genuine as she kneels to hug a laughing Mocchi and Hare, and Suezo leans against her side, grinning back at her, glad to see her so happy. Holly looks up into the sky again, but now she is smiling happily, and a few cherry blossoms flit past her radiant face. >

~ Now I know we’ll carry on.

Melodies of life,

Come circle round and grow deep in our hearts, as long as we remember. ~

< The petal blossoms flit through the azure sky, and suddenly a hand reaches out and snatches one. Screen pulls out to show a certain young boy with shining clear eyes standing in the center of a bustling city street, gazing at the fragile blossom in his hand with a slight smile on his face and a mischievous glimmer in his bright brown eyes. His grip tightens slightly on a long, glittering feather of purest flame red dusted with gold in his other hand, and his grin grows wider as he looks up at the pink blossoms that continue to flutter past him in the breeze. >
