Will of John Ellis of Guilden

In the name of God amen! I John Ellis of Guilden Morden in the County of Cambridge being very sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory praised be God for it And considering the frail and uncertain condition of this mortal life do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of God who gave it humbly beseeching him thta whensoever it shall please him to call me out of this world it may be presented to him pure and immaculate thro the blood of my Saviour Jesus Christ his Son by whose merits alone I hope to obtain salvation and forgiveness of sins And my body I leave to be interred after a decent and Christian like manner as shall seem meet to my Executor Then as for my Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I will that it be disposed of in the manner following Imprimis I give bequeath and devise to my dearly beloved Wife Margaret Ellis all that my Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell together with the orchard and all the members and appurtenances therof excepting the Little house and ground as far as the pear tree which I have already givenand do hereby give and grant to my son John Ellis and to his Heirs forever To Have and to hold the said dwelling house and orchard with all the severall part and parcells thereof for the term of her natural life And after her decease I give to my son John Ellis and to his heirs forever Provided and upon condition that my said son John Ellis shall not in any wise give the least molestation let hindrance or disturbance upon or under pretence of his being my only heir at Law But tat he shall suffer my said Wife Margaret to possess and enjoy it peaceably and quietly during her lifetime And in case he or any other person claiming by or under him shall not observe this my Will but shall endeavour to get possession thereof during the life of my said wife Margarett then I do hereby as far as in me lies give and devise all the premises aforesaid after the decease of Margarett my wife to my son and his heirs forever Item I give to my son John Ellis the sum of one shillingto be paid by my Executrix six months after my decease Item I give to my son William Ellis the sume of one shilling Item I give to my daughter Mary Fenn the wife of Charles Fenn of Abington the sume of one shilling Item I give to my daughter Sarah the sume of one pound to be paid by my executrix within twlve months after my decease Item I give to my daughter Margaret the sume of oner shilling Item I give to my daughter Hsannah the sume of one shilling Item I give to my daughter Susannah the sume of one shilling And my Will is that my three last mentioned daughters and my son William shall have free liberty to live with thier mother in the said Dwelling house until they come to the age of twentyone years unless they can be placed out in service in the mean time and at any time thereafter when they shall be sick or out of service conjuring and earnestly intreating her to make such provision for them as her worldly circumstances will allow amd requiring them to behave themselves dutifullyand respectfully to their mother Lastly I do hereby five and bequeath to my said wife Margarett all other my Goods and shattells and personall Estate whatsoever whom I likewise constitute and appoint the sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I do further by these presents utterly revoke and disallow any Will Testament bequest Legacies and Executors by me formerly made or ordained and appointed And I do absolutely ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last Will In Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this nineteenth Day of Decemb in the Year of our Lord 1726 L.Ward Matt Oakley
