And Admion of all and singular the Goods Etc of the said deceased and any way concerning the said will was granted to Edmund Scown son of the said deced and sole Executor named in the said will - Being first sworn V.

This is the last Will and Testamen of me John Scown of the Hamlet of Saint Thomas in the Borough of Launceston, Cornwall Innkeeper. I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Jane Scown All of my Household Goods, Furniture, Plate, China, Wines, Spirits and Liquors Stock in Trade, Book Debts and all other my person Estate whatsoever Upon Trust that she the said Jane Scown do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease by with and out of the same pay all Debts which I shall legally owe at the time of my decease (except the Mortgage Debts hereinafter mentioned) and my funeral and testamentary expenses and the expenses of proving this my will And I give and bequeath the use of the surplus and residue of the said personal estate and effects hereinbefore devised for the purpose of discharging my debts and other expenses and which shall remain after answering such purpose unto my said dear wife for and during her natural life or for and during such part thereof as she remain my widow and from and after her decease or second marriage I give and bequeath the same unto such of my children as should then be living to be equally divided between them if more than one. And I give and bequeath All those my four freehold and two Leasehold Dwelling houses and premises situated in the New Road leading from the Hamlet of St. Thomas to Westgate unto my said dear Wife for and during her natural life or part thereof as she remains my Widow and from and after her decease or second marriage Then I give and bequeath the same unto and amongst my chiildren in manner hereinafter mentioned that is to say - Top my daughter Betsy Ann wife of George Deacon of Portsmouth Stonecutter I give and bequeath All that Dwellinghouse and premises -situate in the New Road as aforesaid now in my occupation and which is the nearest of the said Dwellinghouses to my present Residence and adjoins the premises of Thomas Martin for her seperate use and benefit independently and exclusively of her present or any future husband and without being in anywise subject or liable to the debts demands or engagements of such husband and the receipts of my said Daughter notwithstanding her marriage shall be effectual discharges for so much of the rents issues and profits as shall be therein mentioned and acknowledged to be received - To my Son Philip Scown of London Cordwainer I give and bequeath All that Dwelllinghouse and premises situate in the said New Road and adjoining to the said last mentioned Dwellinghouse and premises on the West and now in the occupation of my Son Edmund Scown as tenant thereof - To my Son William Dixon Scown of the Hamlet of Saint Thomas aforesaid Mason I give and bequeath All that Dwellinghouse and premises situate in the New Road aforesaid adjoining to the said last named Dwellinghouse and premises on the West and now in the occupation of Coles - To my Son Edmund of the Hamlet of St. Thomas aforesaid Mason I give and bequeath All that Dwellinghouse and premises situate in the said New Road adjoining to the last named Dwellinghouse and premises on the West and on the East abutting on premises belonging to one Thomas Farthing and now in the ocupation of Thomas Ball as tenant thereof - I give and bequeath All those two Leashold Dwelling houses and permises situate in the New Road during the remainder of my Interest therein unto the said Betsy Ann Deacon, Philip Scown, William Dixon Scown and Edmund Scown in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common but not as joint tenants. And I give and bequeath unto my said dear Wife (in case I do not dispose of the same in my lifetime) All that Dwellinghouse Stables and other premises in which I now reside called "The White Lion Inn" situate in the Hamlet of Saint Thomas aforesaid Upon Trust as soon as convenient after my decease to sell and dispose of the same for the best price or prices that can be gotten and out of the purchase money thereof to pay off a Mortgage Debt of Three hundred and fifty pounds now due and owing by me upon security of the said White Lion Inn and four freehold Dwellinghouses and premises hereinbefore mentioned. And if the purchase money should not be sufficient to pay the said Mortgage Debt and the interest thereof and all expenses attending the Sale and conveyance of the said permises Then I direct that the said four freehold Dwellinghouses and premises so bequeathed as aforesaid to my Children shall bear the deficiency in the said purchase money in equal shares and proportions And if there should be an Overplus after paying all such expenses and the said Mortgage Debt and interest Then I direct that the said Overplus shall be applied towards the payment of all other my just debts and expenses. - And I declare my Will to be that if either of my said Children shall die without leaving issue lawfully begotten or that shall attain the age of twenty one years Then and in that case the Dwellinghouse and premises and undivided share of Dwellinghouses and premises hereinbefore bequeathed to such child and children respectively shall go to the surviving children share and share alike - I appoint my said Son Edmunc Scown Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I hereby revoke all former Wills and Codicils by me at any time in heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my Will written on this and two preceding Sheets of Paper set my Hand this twenty sixth day of July in One-thousand eight hundred and forty six -
