Will of Margaret Parker of Whiston 1722

This is the last Will and Testament of Margaret Parker of Tarbock in the County of Lancaster, Widdow. And first it is my Will and mind that all my Debts which I shall owe at the time of my death, my funerall Expenses and the Charge of the Probate of this my Will be paid. And whereas I am possessed of a messuage (i.e. a plot of land) and Tenement and the lands thereunto belonging with the appurternances situate lyeing and being in Whiston in the said County now in the possession of me or my Undertenants for a certain term or number of years determinable upon the death of two heirs in being. Now I do hereby give and divide the said messuage and tenement and premises to Gerard Potter of Whiston aforesaid yeoman and Thomas Gee of Whiston aforesaid yeoman and their assigns for and dureing the term of the life of my Daughter Jane Valentine if she shall keep herself so long sole and unmarried and my term and estate therein shall so long last and continue. Upon trust that they the said Gerard Potter and Thomas Gee and the Survivor of them and the Executors and assigns of such survivor shall apply and disperse of the Rents, Issues and clear profits thereofto and for the use of my said Daughter Jane Valentine and her assigns dureing her life if she shall keep herself so long sole and unmarried for her maintenance. And from and immediately after the death and deceased of my said Daughter Jane or her marriage which shall first happen I give and devise the said messuage tenement and premises with the appurtenances for my son John Valentine of Tarbock aforesaid linen weaver, his Executors, Administrators and assigns dividing all my estate terme and Interest therein. And I give and bequeath unto the said Gerard Potter and Thomas Gee the Sum of five pounds of lawful money of Great Brittain upon trust that they the said Gerard Potter and Thomas Gee and the Survivors of them, his Executors or assigns shall put the same out at interest and shall apply the Interest and Profitt thereof yearly to the use of my said daughter Jane dureing her life if she shall keep herself sole and unmarried. And after her death or Marriage which shall first happen I give and bequeath the sum of five pounds to my said son John Valentine and my daughters Elizabeth wife of William Simcock of Overton in the County of Chester Saddler, Rosamond wife of John Medcalfe of Whiston in the said County of Lancaster woollen weaver and Lydia wife of Thomas Hurst of Prescott in the same County Butcher equally to be divided amongst them and if it shall happen that any of my said Son John and Daughter Elizabeth, Rosamond and Lydia shall happen to dye before the sum of five pounds shall become due and payable to them as aforesaid then my Will and mind is that part or share of him, her or them so dyeing shall goe and be paid to the child or children of him, her or them so dyeing equally amongst them. And I give unto my said Daughter Jane Valentine all my wearing apparell And I give all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods, Chattels and personal Estate to my said Son John and Daughters Elizabeth Simcock, Rosamond Medcalfe and Lydia Hurst equally to be divided amongst them. And further it is my will that if there be any loss or Damage sustained by reason of putting out the said sum of five pounds at Interest that the said Gerard Potter and Thomas Gee shall not bear any such loss or damage or any part thereof. And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said son John Valentine sole Executor of this my will And do revoke all former and other Will and Wills by me made and do make this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Margaret Parker have signed, sealed and published this as my last Will and Testament the 1st? day of January ann__?
