Will of Roger Ellery of St Columb Minor

In the name of God amen - - - the sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand sixteen hundred and forty I, Roger Ellery, the unprofitable servant of' God, being sick in body but strong in mind do willingly and with a free heart render and give again unto the hands of My Lord God my creator my spirit which he of his fatherly goodness gave to me when he first fashioned me in my mother's wombe making me a living soule and a reasonable creature, nothing doubting but that for His infinite mercies set forth in his precious blood of His dearely beloved Sonne Jesus Christe our only saviour and redeemer, He will receive my soule into his glorie and place it in the company of his angels and blessed saints. And, as concerning my bodye even with a good will and a free heart I give it over commending it to the earth whereof it cameth nothing doubting but accordingly to the article of my faith, at the great day of the resurrection general when we shall all appear before the judgement seat of God, I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God where with he is able to subdue all things to himself, not a corruptabell mortall and weake bodye as it now is but an incorruptabell, immortal strong and perfect bodye in all poynts, like unto the glorious body of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
