Last Will and Testament of William EWENS
In the Name of God Amen, this is the last Will and Testament of William EWENS of the Parish of Broadwinsor, in the County of Dorset. I ????hold on, ???? ?? ????? give and bequeath all and singular my soul and personal affects both in Doors and out; And first of all I commit my Soul unto God who gave it and only body to the Earth ?? ??? ???????? ???????? after my decease at Broadwinsor aforesaid; and in particular I give and bequeath unto my three children that is my son William, only daughter Hannah and my son Daniel EWENS all and every part of my effects Land and Leaseholding; house; ?????; ????; stock in trade, household goods, ?????????? with all other my debts ???? on demand of every sort whatever and where ever to be equally divided ??????? ?????? after my deceased ??? soon as they shall arrive ?? their respective age of twenty one years; ???? in order to prevent any dispute or law suit by or from any claiming from or ???? or ??? me Thereby appoint my brother Thomas EWENS of Bridport in the county of the aforesaid to be my Executor in Trust for my said children and whosoever my present wife has in her favour a Marriage Settlement relating to her effects before my Marriage to her I now give and bequeath unto her after my decease (death) the sum of ten pounds exclusive of her said Marriage Settlement to be paid her at the expiration of each calendar year after my decease; and all my other assets whatsoever and where ever I give as aforesaid to my said three children in form as aforesaid as Witness my hand this 12th day of April 1780

Know all men by these ???????? that Daniel EWENS of Broadwinsor in the County of Dorset, yeoman, Josiah SELWOOD of Bridport in the said County, Ironmonger, and John ANDRESS of the same place, Cooper, are held and formally bound unto John TURNER, Clerk, Master of Arts Official Principal of the Venerable Henry HALL also Clerk, Master of Arts, Archdeacon of Dorset in the County sum of four thousand pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said John TURNER or to his certain Attorney, his Executors, Administrator or Assigns. To which payment well and truly to be made we oblige ourselves and each of us by himself and each and every ????? Executor and Administrator firmly by those ??????????? Sealed with our Seals Dated the 30th day of June in the 54th year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Kind defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord 1814.
Whereas William EWENS, late of the Parish of Broadwinsor in the County of Dorset, Innholder, some time since departed this life, having first duly made and published his last Will and Testament in ???????? of the tenor hereunto annexed, and thereof appointed his brother Thomas EWENS, Executor in Trust for his three children, namely William, Hannah and Daniel. And whereas the said Thomas EWENS departed this life in the lifetime of the said William EWENS the testator. And whereas the said William EWENS the son is since also dead leaving his said sister and brother the said Hannah and Daniel EWENS him surviving. And whereas the said William EWENS (the testator) departed this life without altering or working his said Will. Now the condition of this obligation is such that if the above bondsman(?) Daniel EWENS and administrator of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Creditors of the said William EWENS (the testator) deceased, together with the said Will of the said deceased annexed, Do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited unto the Registry of the Court of the Archdeaconry of Dorset aforesaid on or before the last day of .........
......... next ensuing and the same Goods, Chattels and Credits in manner and ???? following do well and truly administer (that is to say) do pay the debts which the said William EWENS (the testator/deceased did ??? at the time of his death and then the Leg????? given in and by the said Will, as far as his Goods Chattels and Credits will thereto extend and the Law charge him. And further do make or render or cause to be made and rendered a full true and just account of and upon his said Administration in the P????????? at such time and as soon as he shall be there unto lawfully acquired. And lastly do at all times hereafter clearly acquit, discharge and save harmless the above named John TURNER and all other officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any Right, Title or Interest in the Goods, Chattels and credits of the deceased Then this obligation to be void and of none effect, or also to remain in full force and effect.

On the 30th day of June the annexed Will of William EWENS late of Broadwinsor in the County and Archdeaconry of Dorset, Innholder, deceased, was proved by the oath of David (should be Daniel) EWENS, son of the deceased, (and administration with the said Will annexed / to whom administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits was granted to he being first duly sworn upon, the Holy Evangelist well and faithfully to administer the same, to exhibit a true and perfect inventory thereof unto the Registry of the Court of the Archdeacon of Dorset and to render a just account thereof when thereto lawfully required, and that the whole of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased did not at the time of his death amount in value to the sum of Three Hundred Pounds.
