EPOXY SHRIMP
Hook: Mustad 92611 Size1 with offset straightened.
Thread: Yellow 3/0
Head: Yellow mylar from mylar duster
Eyes: Artificial anthers from artifical flower shop or bridal section with bulbous end painted black
Body: Yellow chenille
Hackle: Chartreuse saddle hackle palmered from just behind head to tail, trimmed
Shellback: epoxied crimped yellow nylon (Ultra Hair)
Tying instructons: This is one of many recipes for "epoxy shrimp" that can be found. It is similar to an Ultra Shrimp but will have more
action due to the mylar head and saddle hackles. Tie in a some yellow mylar from a mylar duster 2/3 of the way to the bend of the
hook pointing past the bend to form the head. Tie in artificial anthers for eyes at the end of the mylar head. Tie in yellow chenille
and two chartreuse saddle hackles. Build tapered body of chenille ending about 1/8 inche from the eye of the hook. Palmer hackle
from just behind the head almost to the eye of the hook. Trim the palmered hackle along the top and sides leaving the bottom of the hackle to represent legs. Tie in crimped yellow nylon at eye of the hook and tie down again near the
eyes to form the shellback. To form the tail wrap several wraps of thread under the crimped nylon so that it does not obscure the
eye of the hook. Coat the crimped nylon with 5 minute epoxy applying it with a small disposable paint brush. Allow the epoxy to cure.
After the epoxy has cured, using a sharp scissors, trim the tail and the head of the shellback.
