Oren Shachor

Winner of The Church of Rabin And Peace Award

The Church of Rabin And Peace would like to honor the former coordinator of government activities in Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza Strip, Reserve Major-General Oren Shachor.

Mr. Shachor has been a hero of the enlightened public every since he was suspended by then Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu (the man we love to hate) from peace talks with the Palestinians. Shachor was suspended because he met with opposition leaders without the government's or the IDF chief-of-staff's knowledge. (This is against holy IDF regulations.) Good old Oren claimed that the meetings were purely social in that Peres and the rest are old friends and that the meetings were unrelated to the negotiations on the redeployment in Hevron. But even the most enlightened did not believe him.

As of late, Shachor has been, among other things, writing articles for the Jerusalem Post. in an article entitled What now?, published on December 4, 2000, after two months of the holy El-Aqsa intifada, Oren Shachor gave us much pleasure by invoking the holy name of our master and martyr, Yitzchak Rabin. Good old Oren complains that Prime Minister Ehud Barak (who is also Israel's most decorated soldier and a true student of our master Rabin) strayed from our master's legacy by trying to solve all of the issues of the Israeli-Arab conflict:

"Many people talk about prime minister Yitzhak Rabin's heritage regarding the Palestinian issue, but fail to understand that Rabin attached paramount importance to its gradual nature. On several occasions when I led the military-civil delegation for the intermediate agreements, Rabin explained to me that speed would be disastrous, and that the steps should be taken gradually."

It is pure ecstasy to see our master's name invoked with such reverence!

No doubt that Shachor is a true, pious carrier of the Rabin legacy. It is interesting to note what Dr. Aharon Lerner wrote about him on the forbidden IMRA web site:

"Having talked with Maj.-Gen. (res.) Oren Shahor after he formally joined the Labor Party, I understand why the Palestinians have gotten away with violating the Oslo Agreements from the very beginning."

"Oren Shahor was a key player in the negotiations with the Palestinians. He typifies the officers who openly embraced the Labor government's reckless euphoria in the "peace process." He is intimately familiar with the various provisions limiting the size and weaponry of the Palestinian "police" - not to mention the unqualified prohibition on militias."

"But Shahor doesn't really think these limitations are important."

"When asked if he considered the many thousands of extra forces, the extra weapons, the illegal armed militias, etc. to be serious concerns, he replied that 'these weapons aren't tanks or planes. They are nothing. Not a technical problem.'"

Indeed! The enlightened public is not disturbed by the fact that these weapons and forces have been killing and maiming Israeli soldiers and civilians for the past seven years and especially for the past two months. In Oren Shachor's above mentioned article he even has advice how to get the peace train chugging along:

"What must be done now? I am certain that it is possible to return to the conference table with the Palestinians, and that we should do so. Such a return would avoid bloodshed."

There you have it ladies and gentlemen! The solution to the holy El-Aqsa intifada is negotiations. We'll make another agreement with the Palestinians! Hey, wait a minute! Did not the brave and wise Arafat already "agree" that all disputes would be solved by negotiations and not violence? Did he not write the following in his holy letter dated September 9, 1993 to our master Rabin?:

"The PLO commits itself to the Middle East peace process, and to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two sides and declares that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations."

"The PLO considers that the signing of the Declaration of Principles constitutes a historic event, inaugurating a new epoch of peaceful coexistence, free from violence and all other acts which endanger peace and stability. Accordingly, the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence and will assume responsibility over all PLO elements and personnel in order to assure their compliance, prevent violations and discipline violators."

If Arafat does not keep agreements, why should we negotiate with him? Has he has been fooling us all along? Perhaps the fact that he is indoctrinating the Palestinians to hate us should make us reconsider his true intentions? Maybe we were wrong about the Oslo accords and the enemies of peace were right?

Naaaa!

We shall continue to walk in the path of Oren Shachor and all the other enlightened individuals who have brought us such peace and tranquility.

That's all for now. I got to fill some sandbags to fortify my apartment in Gilo.
