Very nice. That was music to my ears. And now for the sermon:
CRAP Award laureate Professor David Newman also wrote a great peace of demagoguery for the Jerusalem Post a week after the assassination. Newman reminds us who Gandhi really was:
"Ze'evi was an idealist, but his ideals were extremist and damaging to Israel's cause. It was precisely the fact that he was part of the defense establishment that enabled him to give the immoral notions of "transfer" - originally espoused by Kach leader Meir Kahane, a person always perceived as an outsider - some form of legitimacy within the Israeli body politic."Indeed, according to our enlightened philosophy, transferring Arabs from their homes is immoral, while uprooting Jews from their homes and giving guns to known murderers is quite acceptable. It is even a cause for celebrations and ceremonies on the White House Lawn. Unfortunately, as David Newman stated, Gandhi was part of the defense establishment. Therefore, we could not demonize him as we did to Kahane. Professor Newman also makes another very important point:
"In no way can Ze'evi's assassination be compared to that of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. Ze'evi was murdered by Palestinian terrorists and, as unforgivable as that act may be, we are at war with the Palestinians. Rabin was murdered by a Jewish terrorist who brought shame upon the Jewish people, especially those who tried to speak up on his behalf in the name of the cause for which he stood - a cause which was very close to the policies espoused by Ze'evi himself."Indeed, nothing can compare with the assassination of Rabin! But Newman forgot to mention another difference between the assassinations: Rabin's murderer was incited by the holy GSS. Ze'evi's murderers were incited by the holy PLO. Yet another difference: Rabin's murderer was apprehended in Tel Aviv. Ze'evi's murderers found refuge in the sacred PLO Autonomy.
"The PLO commits itself to the Middle East peace process, and to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two sides and declares that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations."
"The PLO considers that the signing of the Declaration of Principles constitutes a historic event, inaugurating a new epoch of peaceful coexistence, free from violence and all other acts which endanger peace and stability. Accordingly, the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence and will assume responsibility over all PLO elements and personnel in order to assure their compliance, prevent violations and discipline violators."Therefore , we can only conclude that good old Prof. Newman erred on this point. What is happening now is not war, but rather an unfortunate misunderstanding.
