Jesus --
His birth -- that magical event --is
                what we celebrate.

And this is how it all began!

"There were some shepherds in that part of the country
who were spending the night in the fields, taking care
of their flocks.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were
terribly afraid, but the angel said to them, ' Don't be afraid!
I am here with good news for you which will bring
great joy to all the people.  This very day in David's town
your savior was born -- Christ the Lord!  And this is
what will prove it to you:  you will find a baby wrapped
in cloths and lying in a manger.'

Suddenly, a great army of heaven's angels appeared with
the angel, singing praises to God:

Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom He
                                is pleased!"    Luke 2: 8-14

                                      Todays English Version

"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea...Magi (wise men)
came to Jerusalem and asked "Where is the one who has been
born King of the Jews?  We saw his star in the east and have
come to worship him."  Matthew 2: 1-2  New International Version

"...They went on their way and the star they had seen in the
east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where
the child was.  When they saw the star they were overjoyed.
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary,
and they bowed down and worshipped him.  They opened their
treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, and of incense and
of myrrh."  Matthew 2:  9-11  New International Version
