December 16, 2002: Computer Crash! My computer crashed last week and I am just now able to access my web pages. If you see anything not working on my web sites, please let me know. The TV schedule should be up to date as of today but, as always, it's subject to daily changes.
November 17, 2002: House Peters, Jr.: I spoke to House Peters, Jr. this afternoon and House reported that he and his wife, Lucy, were doing fine. October 22, 2002: Unusual November TV schedule! For some reason, the Westerns channel has scheduled some extra Lone Ranger episodes in the early mornings on a few days. Also, on Saturday, November 30th, there are 5 Lone Ranger episodes scattered through the day. Also, Westerns will be showing the movie "Kit Carson", with Clayton appearing as a character, 6 times in November. "Kit Carson" should also be shown once on the MoviePlex channel on November 27th at 7:30 a.m. CST. I haven't seen his one before myself. There may be other changes made to the schedule as I run across them. I haven't been able to check the AMC channel schedule yet but there have been fewer and fewer movies of interest being shown there.
October 15, 2002: House Peters, Jr. book is about sold out: Jim Hollaert reported to me yesterday that he talked with House Peters, Jr. during the Lone Pine Festival this past weekend. Jim reports that House is about sold out on his book and that he will not be reprinting it. Those of you who want to purchase a copy had best not delay any longer. October 5, 2002: America One network: I've mentioned this a while back but it might be helpful to repeat it again. America One is a full time national television network based inTexas. There are a number of affiliate stations thoughout the U.S. You can also watch some of the shows over the Internet as well. The Lone Ranger is currently broadcast on this network as well as these westerns: Cisco Kid, Cowboy G-Men, U.S. Marshall, Annie Oakley, Gabby Hayes, 26 Men, Jim Bowie, Range Rider and Bonanza. They also show a number of western movies each week as well. You can check out the America One web site and perhaps find a local station that may be broadcasting America One with some of your favorite shows. You can find out if there are any local stations in your state by going to "Watch Us" and then clicking on "Stations" and then click on your state on the map. Or, to check out the webcast, go to "Watch Us" and click on "Webcast". The cowboy shows are broadcast Monday through Friday: "America One"
September 15, 2002: Iverson Movie Ranch Wild, Wild West Days: In answer to a number of recent inquiries, there will not be a Wild, Wild West Days for 2002. Due to the death of Van Swearingen in January of this year and due to the huge amount of work it takes to put on the festival, Phyliss Murphy-Swearingen has decided that the event would not be possible this year. She did advise me that she is continuing the restoration work that she and Van began after their initial purchase of the ranch. The "car barn" has been completed and work on a porch addition to the ranch house has been started. Will there be a Wild, Wild West Days in 2003? Phyliss Murphy-Swearingen doesn't know yet if it will be possible, due to the number of committed and reliable volunteers it takes and other factors that have to be considered in the coming months but it is being seriously considered.
September 9, 2002: Wal Mart has the DVD version of "The Lost Episodes" For those of you who haven't picked up "The Lone Ranger The Lost Eisodes" yet, you might check your local Wal Mart store. One that I stopped in today, has it for $5.88. It has the Lost Episodes as well as "Hi Yo Silver" from 1940 which is a feature made from the 1938 serial, starring Lee Powell and it runs about 67 minutes. The Lost Episodes is really nice as it contains lots and lots of interesting things, including stuff on Clayton, the first ranger cartoon, 2 complete t.v. episodes, commercials that starred Clayton & Jay, theatrical trailers, and lots more in this 98 minute presentation. The DVD is plain since it's recorded on both sides but the outside package shows several pictures of Clayton.
August 24, 2002: Episode Synopsis page change made: I have changed my episode synopsis page a bit. I have it listed by season now, to reduce the loading time and to take care of other problems. I hope to get all the synopsis pages up-to-date eventually and perhaps even completed some day! Don't forget that the Westerns channel has apparently changed the broadcast times for the Lone Ranger and Gene Autry shows, beginning on September 3rd and there will not be a Lone Ranger show on Monday, September 2nd, due to the Gunsmoke marathon. August 24, 2002: New time for the Lone Ranger show beginning in September! From what I can tell from the September schedule, the Lone Ranger show will be broadcast one hour earlier, at 5:30 p.m. CDT. The Gene Autry show will be seen at 5:00 p.m. CDT and Gunsmoke will be broadcast at 6:00 p.m. CDT. Please make note of that change.
August 20, 2002: "Who Are They"? I've added a page of photos of unidentified/uncredited actors from a couple of television episodes. As time and space permits, I'll add other unknowns. These actors aren't named in the closing credits and I'd like to give them their due credit, on my episode synopsis page. August 3, 2002: Cowboys & Indians magazine! There is an interesting article in the September 2002 issue of Cowboys & Indians magazine on The Lone Ranger. The article is titled "The Lone Ranger Rides Again" and the author is David Hofstede. It's a 3 page story in this great magazine and is worth a few minutes of your time to read and perhaps you will add it to your Lone Ranger library. He talks about the history of the Lone Ranger from the radio days in 1933 and covers up through the proposed new movie and t.v. series in 2002.
July 21, 2002: The Lone Ranger on Westerns: There has been a concern of Lone Ranger fans that the arrival of Gunsmoke on the Westerns channel in September might result in an end to the Lone Ranger series being broadcast. Well, you can relax, as Westerns will maintain the current line-up of the Gene Autry Show, followed by the Lone Ranger at their usual times, which will then be followed by Gunsmoke.
July 11, 2002: "The Silver Bullet" newsletter: I am a current subscriber to a quarterly news letter, called "The Silver Bullet". This newsletter was begun in 1988 by Terry Klepey. The Silver Bullet is now published by Joe Southern and is almost entirely Lone Ranger related material. Issues are sent out in March, June, September and December. Various aspects of the Lone Ranger show are covered as are Lone Ranger collectibles and memorabilia. June 10, 2002: The new "Lone Ranger t.v. series: According to the web site of Zap2it.com, the new "Lone Ranger" series, starring Chad Michael Murray, was not picked up by WB for the Fall season but it might still appear as a mid-season replacement show. This is according to Amy Amatangelo, column writer at Zap2it.com.
June 8, 2002: True West magazine: Fellow Lone Ranger fan, Al D. reports that Lone Ranger fans might be interested in picking up the July, 2002 issue of "True West" magazine. Al writes to say "...the current issue features the Texas Rangers as the theme of the issue and features an old photo with a large headline about the same on the cover. The treat is a small photo of Clayton as the Lone Ranger in a familar photo on the lower portion of the cover with the byline "The Lone Ranger Tries Again!" On page 43 the magazine covers upcoming western movies in the works and starts off with a paragraph about Columbia Pictures doing a $70 million version of the Ranger with CHAD MURRAY in the lead role as the Lone Ranger, and NATHANIEL ARCAND as Tonto! The blurb is accompanied with a small photo of Klinton Spilsbury & Jason Robards in the Legend Of movie from '81." Thanks for the information Al and I'm happy to pass it on to other Lone Ranger fans.
June 6, 2002: John Hart in Biography magazine: Just a reminder that there is a half page article on John Hart in the June, 2002 issue of Biography magazine. The article is on page 26 and is an interesting "where are they now" article and contains 2 photos.
May 28, 2002: "Rawhide" is coming to the Hallmark Channel! Why is that important to Lone Ranger fans? Because Jay Silverheels was in at least one episode and John Hart appeared in approximately 18 episodes of Rawhide. The Hallmark Channel is to begin broadcasting "Rawhide" on July 6, 2002. It's been a while since these episodes were shown on television and it's always interesting to see catch our Lone Ranger friends in other t.v. appearances.
May 3, 2002: Coming soon, new Lone Ranger collectibles by Vandor! Three new Lone Ranger items by Vandor will be coming out around June 1st according my friend, Jim Hollaert of JIM n' I ENTERPRISES . April 23, 2002: Clayton Moore & Gordie Peer article! I discovered a newspaper supplement from last week called American Profiles and in the issue of 4/14/2002 - 4/20/2002, they had a nice 2 page story about Gordie Peer and Clayton Moore. You may want to see if you can obtain a copy of this article from the publisher. They do have the text from the article on their web site but not the 5 pictures, two of which include Clayton, one with Lash LaRue and Gordie and the second photo is of Clayton on a rearing Silver. The Clayton-Lash-Gordie picture is in color with Clayton in his blue outfit, red neckerchief with his guns and without his mask. These pictures are only in the print version. The text is by Judy Woodward Bates and the photos are by Kathleen Border. The restaurant story told by Gordie about Clayton is quite funny. If you get a chance, send an email or written thank you message to the publisher for publishing this story. I had been trying to connect with Gordie myself for a small feature for this web site but this article by Judy Bates will probably be sufficient for us Clayton fans. April 11, 2002: John Hart is making a public appearance in Ohio on April 25th! I have just received information that John Hart will be appearing at a conference organization called ICARE, INC., and John is part of a conference that they are sponsoring called "GROWING UP HAPPY" which is a celebration of childhood heroes. Other presenters will be Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo), author Emily Oldak, Southwestern singer Patty Peterson, and legendary Maryland guitarist Barron Heiner. John will join the other guests with a presentation and sign free autographed photos. Members of the public are invited to attend this one day event for a cost of $29.00. A wonderful breakfast and buffet luncheon is included at no extra cost. March 26, 2002: Cheerios - Lone Ranger Cereal Pack Info! I just got off the phone with General Mills/Cheerios and they are now sold out of the Cheerios Lone Ranger 60th Anniversary cereal pack with the special tin lunch box. You might find it at some stores yet or on the secondary market but General Mills no longer has the item for sale at their web site.
March 12, 2002: An interesting new book! I received a new book yesterday, titled "The Encyclopedia of TV Pets" by Ken Beck and Jim Clark. Lots of great information about the many animal stars that have appeared in various tv. shows. Many times, the animal's real name and where they came from, who owned them, who trained them, etc. This is a very interesting book and it includes about 8 pages of information on the Silvers used on the Lone Ranger tv show and the movies, which includes their real names, some interesting facts about various trainers and stuntmen who worked with the Silvers and some information on Scout. The book does a fine job with the other famous horses (Trigger, Champion, Fury, Flicka, etc), dogs (Rin Tin Tin, Bullet, etc), cats, birds, etc. used on many tv shows and it contains over 200 photographs. February 22, 2002: Biography Magazine: I found out today that John Hart gave an interview for Biography Magazine which will be in an upcoming issue. Maybe March or April but when I find out, I'll let you know right here. Just something for you who are keeping up with John Hart, to be watching for. Thanks to Mick LaFever for the information. **UPDATE: I heard today, February 26, 2002, that the Biography magazine will carry the article about John in its June, 2002 issue and it will be in the "where are they now?" column. As the Biography source said, thats barring any last-minute changes that might occur.

February 15, 2002: Lone Ranger Comic Strip reprint: Among other things, Ken Pierce Books in Franklin, Wisconsin, sells a comic strip Showcase, Volume 1: Starring The Lone Ranger. This is a softcover, color cover, 80 pages of black & white Lone Ranger comic strips. This collection contains reprints of 4 daily episodes, including the very first Lone Ranger comic strip, "The Mystery of Pine River" (9/12/1938 to 10/15/1938). January 31, 2002: Access problems to this site: Some of you have experienced some problem in gaining access to this web site. I was informed that it's too popular for its own good. I use Tripod as they supply me a free site to host this web site but I am limited to a certain amount of bandwidth and I have been exceeding my limited bandwidth and I have to even it out with the blockages that Tripod puts on my web site. As a result, access is blocked to the web site and was especially noticeable at the end of January. Even I cannot gain access to my web site during the blockage time and its because so many of you stop by to browse through my web site. There are two solutions: Hope for less visitors to access my site (not an acceptable solution) OR my having to purchase additional bandwidth (not possible at this time). So please be patient and understanding, especially near the end of the month when my bandwidth useage has to be reconciled.
January 30, 2002: Van Swearingen dies! Leo Pando reported to me last night that Mr. Van L. Swearingen, the owner of the Iverson Location Movie Ranch in Chatsworth, California died of cancer Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at a hospital in Woodland Hills. He was 62 years old. Swearington and his wife had purchased a small portion of the old Iverson Ranch in 1997 to keep it out of the hands of developers. He had been restoring the ranch house at the Iverson Ranch and had also made the portion of land available to film and television producers. January 18, 2002: The Vandor Lone Ranger Salt & Pepper shakers set: Jim Hollaert just sent me a picture of the Vandor Lone Ranger Salt & Pepper set. The set consists of a Salt shaker that is shaped like a lunch box with the 1981 movie Lone Ranger on it. The Pepper shaker is shaped like a thermos with Clayton's image on it and both shakers are ceramic. The shakers are stored in a tin box. January 18, 2002: Cheerios found in Florida: Lone Ranger fan, Paul B., reports finding the 60th anniversary Cheerios packages with the special retro lunch box, in the Food Lion, a chain store in Florida. Paul reports the retail sales price was $4.99 and that Paul found the Cheerios in the Food Lion in Orange City, Florida, just north of Orlando. Thanks Paul! I would suggest that you don't wait too long before grabbing a set, as here in Iowa, the Cheerios were only displayed a couple of weeks and then they were gone.
January 13, 2002: Cheerios/Lone Ranger packages found in Ohio! Lone Ranger fan, Bob B., reports that he found the Cheerios 60th Anniversary Lone Ranger packages at a Meijer's store in Lancaster today. Bob reports the Cheerios packages are in the bulk food section and he thinks that most of the Meijer's stores will have the packages. Bob reports that the price was $5.00 for the special package. January 12, 2002: Another Vandor Lone Ranger item: Lone Ranger fan, Jim Hollaert, wrote a few days ago to inform me that the Vandor company is soon to release a Lone Ranger Salt & Pepper shaker set. Vandor released the Lone Ranger tote box and Lone Ranger and Silver bobber figurines recently. Jim told me that he will have more information after a trade show in another week or two. Jim sells the Vandor Lone Ranger items at his Internet web site if you can't find any of the items in your area.
