Buster Lesson IIILet's bust that recipe you saved in the last lesson! Here's what it should look like:[[[ Title of Recipe
C:
S:
B:Ingredients List
Directions
]]]Open your Buster program by clicking on the shortcut you made on your desktop. A black box will appear. This is the often hated and much feared DOS screen.
There will be file names listed in the box such as: MC_BUSTR. CGF, MC_BUSTR.EXE, MC_BUSTR.TXT, MC_BUS-1.HTM, READ_ME.NOW, UPDATES.TXT. Also in the list will be the .txt file you saved. We'll call it myfile.txt. Now it asks you Enter file name to convert: You should type in: myfile.txt and hit <RETURN>
It will now say Enter any line you want to appear in each recipe below. (such as where the recipes were found, etc.) (Hit <RETURN> to leave blank and include no posting info) This is where I usually type in Busted by Nancy, followed by the month and year.
After typing in the info you want, or leaving blank hit <RETURN> It will now tell you how many files were converted and what each file was saved as. In this case, myfile.TXT will become myfile.MXP. There will also be myfile.OUT and myfile.DON. These should be deleted after you've determined that your .MXP file imported correctly. You can go back into your text editor, open the .DON file and redo the recipe if need be.
I can't tell you the number of times I've had to do this, mostly because I forget to add ]]] at the end. See? I'm no pro :)
If you've saved more than one recipe, it will ask you if you have another file to convert. Follow the prompts. If you're done, just close Buster.
Your recipe is now busted! Aren't you proud of yourself?? Now you open MasterCook, and open the cookbook into which you want to import the recipe. Go to FILE|IMPORT RECIPES, then navigate to where your Buster is kept. You will import the .MXP file and when you're done it will be sitting in that cookbook! There, now wasn't that EASY??? LOL
How many of you said NO! and are ready to bombard me with hate mail? :) The more you do it, the more it will be like second nature to you. My last "lesson" will be short, I promise. Just a couple of tricks to make the job a bit easier.
