Creating More Than One Volume of a Cookbook
I have two volumes of Cooking Light recipes on my bookshelf, Cooking Light, and Cooking Light II. Because DOS only recognizes the first 8 characters of a file name, creating more than one volume of a cookbook may be frustrating, but it's not impossible. There is a work around:
1. Select New Cookbook from the FILE menu.
2. As you type the name of the new cookbook into the file name box, the DOS file name box follows right along with you, stopping when the 8 character limit is reached. If you click on the Create button, you will be told that this file already exists, and you will be given the option of replacing the file (click Yes) or selecting a different DOS name (Click No).
3. Click No, the DOS file name will be highlighted and you simply type in another DOS file name. Make it something that you'll remember when you go to back up the file. I used CKGLT2.MCF for volume II. The next volume will have the DOS file name CKGLT3.MCF, and so on.
