Part VOrganizing Cookbooks: Categories
Cookbooks are collections of recipes, arranged to make finding recipes as convenient as possible. Cookbooks are usually organized into categories based on some sort of categorization of recipes. Recipes may be categorized by:
1. type of food-poultry, beef, vegetables, etc.
2. course-appetizer, salad, dessert, main dish, etc.
3. regional, national, or ethnic foods-Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc.
There are a couple of things to consider when categorizing recipes. I think the most important thing is to be consistent. You don't need a Main Dish category and a Main Dishes category. I use Chicken and Turkey categories, so I don't use a Poultry category. This is entirely up to you though.
Also, consider the fact that you'll be sharing recipes and not everyone wants a "Great Aunt Mildred's Heirloom Recipes" category!! :) Yes, these categories can be edited easily enough.
