Hydrate your skin -- pour some regular table salt into the palm of your hand, and to it addenough buttermilk (a couple teaspoons) to moisten it and make it spreadable. Spread this mixture on your face and gently rub it in for a few minutes....do not scrub hard, be gentle. This mixture is supposed to help your circulation, hydrate your skin with salt, adjust its Ph balance with buttermilk, and take off maybe the top (dead) layer of skin...not 10 layers!! Rinse with clear water. It leaves your skin smooth and moist. I had terrible skin in my teens and 20's....visited many dermatologists, and none of them helped....but THIS RECIPE is what finally cured my acne and made my skin look healthy! My skin is olive-toned and a little on the tough and oily side....if your skin is extremely fair and delicate, you may need to be even more cautious when trying this recipe. Shared by Deena.
Moisturize dry skin -- Soak in a tub of warm water for 10 minutes to help steam open your pores. Get out of the tub and gently massage your dry skin with a few tablespoons of lemon or lime juice mixed with baby oil. Rub on your face and all over body. The steam has opened your pores, and now the fragrant oil is able to enter your skin and provide lubrication to thirsty cells and tissue.
Hard water -- soften by adding a teaspoon of vinegar or powdered oatmeal to a half-basin of warm water.
Great beauty bath -- Toss a cup of powdered milk in the tub; run the water.
Dry skin -- After bath, rub a clean avocado pit over your body. It's full of lubricating oil.
Eye soother -- 1-1/2 teaspoon mashed peaches; chamomile tea. Steep 1/4 cup chamomile tea and blend 1/2 tsp. with mashed peaches. Apply under eye, stroking from outer to inner corner. Leave on 8-10 minutes.
Simple home remedy to soothe and refresh your weary eyes -- Steep two chamomile tea bags in boiling water for three minutes. Transfer the tea bags to the refrigerator until they're chilled. Lie down and place the cold bags over your closed eyes for 15 minutes.
Dark circles or puffiness -- Place on eyes: cotton pads soaked in milk or witch hazel; avocado or cucumber slices; a compress of grated raw carrots or raw potatoes.
Smooth eyelids -- and erase crease wrinkles by applying whole milk to the area and letting it remain there all day. Repeat frequently. The butterfat in the milk nourishes the skin, which has no oil glands in that area.
Facial mask -- This will make your skin look and feel younger almost immediately:One tsp. Brewer's Yeast
One tsp. wheat germ
One tsp. safflower oil
One tsp. whole beaten eggMix all ingredients. Gently pat on clean face. Leave on 15 minutes; then rinse with warm water. Pat dry and follow with moisturizer.
Dry up blemishes -- dab with lemon juice a few times a day.
Apple cider vinegar -- Pour some in a basin of warm water and splash your face thoroughly. Let dry without using a towel. Once a day, this will restore natural PH balance. Acne suffers should try this. Be sure to start with a clean face.
Dead skin -- rub small amount of Miracle Whip (tm) salad dressing into skin and let dry. While skin is a little moist start massaging face and neck.
Smooth out wrinkles -- 2 egg yolks, 2 tbsp. cider vinegar, 1/4 C vegetable oil Blend all the ingredients, adding the oil gradually. Apply with the tips of your fingers. Remove after 15 minutes with warm water and gentle soap. Finish with a chilled astringent.
Smooth out wrinkles # 2 -- sea salt, olive or baby oil Mix to a moist grainy consistency. Wet the wrinkle area with this preparation and massage the mixture with a gentle motion. Do this for 15 minutes. You will be creating "at home" dermabrasion that sloughs off wastes.
Frown Lines -- to ease these lines, saturate a clean cloth with ordinary witch hazel. Place over tension lines. After 5 minutes, gently massage the lined area. The witch hazel will act as a surface dehydrate and will reduce creases quickly and easily. Around the eye area this works great.
Deep lines -- treat from nose to mouth with this exercise: purse lips as if sucking through a straw and hold for a count of 30. Relax; repeat four times. Practiced once a day this simple exercise softens lines and prevents them from becoming still deeper.
