Information on the Full Moon On-line Ritual

To assist those not familiar with ritual preparation, the following basic outline with information is provided: (again, this is my own design, with much literature help, and you may certainly create your own) Books include Spiral Dance, To Stir A Magick Cauldron, To Ride A Silver Broomstick, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner and much more.

Altar Preparation

This can be of any choosing, depending on what the ritual is for. I have special cloths for this purpose (of your own choice) and usually include candles, incense, pentacle, and my athame.

Casting the Circle

This is creating sacred space around the altar, some say nine feet in diameter, use whatever you have. If you are outside there is no need to cleanse the area since nature takes care of this for us. Indoors you may want to burn incense, ‘sweep’ away any negativity with your magickal broom, or smudge the area with a sage/cedar stick (smuding is also a Native American tradition of purification). This area can be set apart with stones, sticks, candles or by visualizing a white light of protection. Since our ritual is online, the latter is probably most fitting this time.

Calling the Quarters

Again, this is done many different ways depending on the tradition you follow. Personally I call upon the Guardians of the Watchtowers:
From the East, spirits of Air
From the South, spirits of Fire
From the West, spirits of Water
From the North, spirits of Earth.
In this we are calling upon the spirits/guardians and elements of each of the directions to join in the circle. Also, to make the pentacle complete, I call upon the Guardians of the Central Watchtower, spirits from above and below.

Invocation of the Goddess

Drawing down the moon; simply put, requesting the presence of the Goddess in ritual.

Invocation of the God

Drawing the sun, same as with the Goddess.

Meditation

Ddepending upon the type ritual you are doing, there are many to choose from. For our online ritual we will be participating in an Earth meditation.

Works of Magick

Are whatever you choose to do; healing, earth rites, prosperity, cleansing, guidance, etc.

Cakes and Ale

Feasting; many recipes and ideas for this time are found in the books listed for this part of the ritual. It is sort of a socializing time, if in a group with everyone in the circle, if solitary you refresh yourself with a small treat along with the spirits that surround you. This can be a time of reflection, relaxing, preparing for future ritual or just gazing at the stars and moon.

Thanks to the Goddess and God

Thanking the Goddess and God for their presence in the circle. Many times during a group ritual, each person invites specific ancestors to join them in the circle (this can be done after the invocation of the God/dess), thanking these presence’s may also be done at this time.

Releasing the Circle

A release and thanks of the directions/elements/guardians back into the universe.
This is most certainly a brief description and outline of ritual. There are too many possibilities and combinations to list here. Take the time to read up on as much information as you chose and create your own to suit your needs or use some of the ones that already exist. The point is to make your ritual YOURS. The Goddess and God are honored as long as your heart is sincere.

PLEASE BRING WITH YOU TO YOUR COMPUTER, FOR OUR ONLINE FULL MOON RITUAL SEPTEMBER 16, A CONTAINER OF SALT WATER. EVERYONE WILL BE ASKED TO JOIN IN THE RITUAL PARTICIPATION. LIGHTING A CANDLE BY YOUR COMPUTER OR BURNING SOME INCENSE WOULD BE NICE TOO, BUT IT IS TOTALLY UP TO YOU AS TO HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE.
