Lyle C. Peck -- St. Charles

ST. CHARLES -- The funeral for Lyle C. Peck will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Dover, with military honors by St. Charles American Legion and VFW.

Mr. Peck, 79, of St. Charles, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Whitewater Health Care Center in St. Charles.

He was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Laurel, Neb. During World War II he served in the Army in the European Theater. On May 10, 1947, he married Marjorie Becker in Chatfield. Mrs. Peck died Oct. 23, 1999. Mr. Peck was a long-time farmer in the St. Charles area. He also worked for Saratoga Creamery, Chatfield Hardware Store, St. Charles Feed Mill and Olstad Implement in Chatfield. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in St. Charles, and broke horses for people in the St. Charles area. He enjoyed visiting with people, hunting, fishing, cutting wood and woodworking.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Peck of Elgin, and Ruth Spitzer and Andrea (Dave Evans) Peck , both of St. Charles; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Frances (Ron) Pieper of Renton, Wash., Arlene (Chuck) Pederson of Rushford, and JoAnn (Don) Thoe of Sargeant. Infant twin sons and two sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes -- St. Charles Chapel, and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
