La Crosse Tribune Published on Sunday, October 29, 2000 Joseph J. Kiral --------------------------------------------------------- Aug. 13, 1907-Oct. 27,2000 LEWISTON, Minn. -- Joseph John Kiral, 93, of rural Lewiston, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2000, peacefully at his home with his family beside him. He was born in Wiscoy Township of Winona County on Aug. 13, 1907, to Joseph John and Bertha Ann (Dragoun) Kiral. On Nov. 16, 1935, he married Virginia Ann Nagle at St. John's Church in Winona. Joe farmed most of his life and also worked for Fred Fakler Construction as a truck driver. In 1949, they moved to Wyattville, where Joe was one of the first farmers in the area to practice land conservation with contour strips. He liked to hunt and fish and was a loyal Minnesota Twins radio listener. An avid reader, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life stories with family and friends. He and Virginia always had a garden, and beautiful flower beds greeted all visitors, as did the familiar sight of Joe smoking his pipe. Joe was proud of his Bohemian heritage and was most happy when family came to visit. Hard work, his faith and love of family were his life. Joe was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Wilma (Ronald) Mueller of Winona; three sons, Joseph John (Anne) Kiral of Metairie, La., Raymond (Nancy) Kiral of Montgomery, Ill., and Lyle (Marylin) Kiral of Lewiston; nine grandchildren, Steven (Pamela) Mueller, Linda (Ronald) Speltz, Theresa (Kevin) Redig, Kevin (Becky) Mueller, Richard (Tammy) Kiral, Michelle Kiral, Michael Kiral, Jennifer (Shawn) Becker and Thomas Kiral; 15 great-grandchildren, Brenda Mueller (fianc'e9 Paul Ebertowski), Eric (Melissa) Speltz, DJ, Dustin and Brittany Speltz, David, Jessica and Jamie Lynn Redig, Heather, Courtney, Ashley and Dylan Mueller, Mikenna Becker, and Caitlyn and Jamie Kiral; and one sister, Jo Biltgen of Winona. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Emma Todd; and two brothers, George Kiral and William Kiral; and an infant sister. At this time, the Kiral family would like to thank the Winona Area Hospice for the wonderful care given to Joe during his illness. Our heartfelt thanks for your support, caring and hugs, also.
