IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT TALKCITY PLEASE READ
Talk City and WebTV will no longer support IRC scripts for chatting with a WebTV unit due to the aggressive components that some of them contain. Although IRC scripts for WebTV have worked with Talk City in the past, it is unlikely that they will continue to work starting April 12, 2000. Talk City can not determine if IRC scripts will still work with Talk City, nor will we be able to assist you on how to make them work. If you would still like to chat at Talk City using a supported WebTV unit, after April 12, and if our IRC`s stop working, you can go to the chat areas on WebTV's community web site, or
TalkCity
and enter chat through Talk City.
We have received a lot of mail about Talk City`s decision to ban the use of all IRC`s on there server. The main question we receive is will our IRC`s still work on Talk City after April 12? The answer to this is we don`t know. We write our own IRC`s scripts and have attempted to make them to be able to withstand all of Talk City`s rules and standards, but we have no idea what they are up to now. If our IRC`s no longer work after April 12 on Talk City we will make one last attempt to try and beat Talk City`s censorship of WebTv users. If all fails we will be moving away from Talk City completely. And we suggest that all WebTv users do the same. Chat on Talk City without IRC`s will become very boring.
