K6-2 & K6-III Systems
AMD's K6-2 and K6-III processors
offer a computing experience unlike any other. Providing speeds in
excess of 500MHz, these chips have
the ability to outrun even
the finest of Intel and Cyrix chips. The K6-2 is available in speeds
of 300 to 500MHz. While the Pentium III
runs faster than this chip,
equivilent Cyrix, and lower end Intel chips are left in the dust by the
superior architecture of the K6. 3d-NOW!
multimedia instructions are
supported by all video card manufacturers, and most 3d games. The
result: 100% compatible 3d
performance at a fraction
of the cost of Intel's MMX.
K6-III is available in speeds
of up to 550MHz. While these numbers may seem a bit low, the charts
at the page footer forgive all numerical
inferirority. As you
can see, the K6-III out powers even the mighty Pentium III Xeon, while
costing almost 75% less than that chip.

The K6-2 and K6-III build
upon a long line of quality AMD processors that began in the earliest days
of the PC. While these older models
were somewhat inferior to
their intel counterparts, that's all changed with the advent of the K-series.
The K6-III, for example, has the
capability to outperform even
the monstorus Pentium III, yet costs less than half of the price of any
Pentium III chip. While not as fast as
the third generation of the
K6, the K6-2 still provides sheer power for all mainstream tasks.
Using advanced 3d Now! instructions and
a quad-pipeline architecture,
the chip can outrun both the Celeron and Cyrix MII.
