Welcome to My Fun in The Sun Page!!

"The Bahamas was discovered in 1492, by Christopher Columbus
Before he came, the only inhabitants were Indians."

What is the first thing that you think of when somebody
mentions the Bahamas?

If you are like me, you think of the sun, the sea, and
the sand of the beautiful beaches and coves that cover
all the islands of the Bahamas.

Well that's good because the Bahamas is a group of
islands, which extends from a point 60 miles off the
coast of Florida, for another 750 miles in a south
easterly direction. These islands span approximately
14,000 square miles of crystal clear, cool, blue water.

There are approximately 700 islands in the Bahamian
archipelago, 40 of which are inhabited. The main tourist
islands include New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, and
Eleuthera. However, some tourists prefer the calm, serenity
and quietness of the Family Islands.

Shown above, you can see a map of the Bahamas, and the
Bahamian Flag.

Currently, the Hon. Hubert Ingraham is the Prime
Minister of the Bahamas (picture below(top-left of
picture)). He became the Prime Minister in 1992.

Elections take place every five years but the Rt. Hon
Hubert Ingraham was re-elected in 1997, which is why he
is still Prime Minister today.

There are two main political parties in the Bahamas,
that is the F.N.M. (Free National Movement), and the
P.L.P. (People's Liberal Party). Hubert Ingraham is on
the F.N.M., which have won the elections twice in a
row now.
